You say don't level cleave. Why not? Leveling it to 5 gives you 12% more damage and no increased mana cost.

" First thing I notice is the really slow axe with 1.25 attacks per sec. At level 46 ish try rolling some good magic rapiers (Serrated Foil, Estoc), or Cutlass. Also Elegant/Graceful sword is 1.60. Then you could get rid of F.A. on Cleave and use Added Cold instead (same socket colour). Your fire ring is interesting: life gain is a little useful as well as mana regen but the values on the mods are so small that you will get a lot more DPS out of a magic fire ring with the good base (like 25-30%) and an elemental damage mod. Some examples: . Otherwise get some good life mods (especially if you're in Hardcore League): I got to 1K DPS at your level with those magic weapons (with Wrath, and W.E.D+Added Cold supports): The elegant sword was interesting... it didn't have elemental damage, but the elemental damage % mod increased the elemental on the other sword so it ended up better than the magic weapon I used previously. The main issue with a magic weapon is you get only one elemental damage mod (prefix), but you can get +%IAS as a suffix (as on that Wyrmbone Rapier). Currently sitting at ~2300 HP in late Cruel. This is my passive tree as a Ranger. --- Have a question for Victor: did you consider getting Arrow Dodging? Last edited by DeF46#3887 on Feb 27, 2013, 10:03:58 PM

Update!!
This is my gear atm. Having a lot of fun with this build though I feel stuck. What should I focus on upgrading next? I think the weapons but I'm not 100% sure so I'm looking for some advice :P My passive tree atm |

Hey man, having a load of fun with your build. Had some good luck with buying stuff and drops, so I got myself some decent gear. At level 45, I'm running at 2.2k DPS fully buffed so I can pretty much 2-shot everything in Cruel Act 2 right now, but I find ranged mages/archers/etc. can kill me pretty quickly if there's too many of them. Any way I can alleviate this or is it something I just gotta get used to?

Hey everyone! I'm currently sitting at Act 3 Merciless and having a blast with this build. Simply love how much freedom it allows on gearing and gems.
I, like a lot of people here, started to have some trouble when reaching Act 2 Merciless. My gear was bad but I found out some simple changes ended up easily carrying me through the rest of the act. So I will leave here some recommendations for the struggling brethren ;) 1. This one, while simple, turned out to be CRUCIAL. Pay close attention to the "flasks" section of Victor's guide. 2 seething flasks, 1 panicked and 1 granite will simply save your ass more times than you can count and make the overall game easier. Get those ASAP. 2. Use 2 fast swords. Many have already recommended this at this thread, and for a reason. Simply put, Whirling Blades+Faster Attacks support > Leap Slam, SPECIALLY with fast swords. WB, along with the flasks will avoid most deaths. As a plus, attack speed scales uncannily good with this build. 2 fast swords with little to no ele damage will do more dps than any high damage, 1.10 attacks per sec axe. If you happen to find any 3L fast sword, take it and alch it. 3. Enfeeble. If you are taking high damage, use enfeeble instead of ele weakness/conductivity, but keep leveling them. If you don't have enough sockets, put the gems you want to level but are not currently using in your alt weapon slots. You will lose some dps because of this change, but remember this: you do 0 dps when you're dead. 4. Don't forget to use Enduring Cry. You can have up to 5 charges with Oak's reward and the passive. 5. Consider Life Leech over Faster Attacks, at least until you can get your hands on a 5L. 6. Use totems! Rejuvenation totem, while slow to cast, gives nice regen and acts as a dummy. If you have spare slots, consider Summon Skeletons + Spell Totem, which are really great at distracting enemies. Remember you have the stats to use anything you desire! *Note* Some topics that keep coming up on the thread: - Leveling Cleave ONLY improves its physical damage. Your damage is virtually pure elemental. Yes, you can level it up to lvl 5 without increasing mana cost, it wouldn't hurt but it doesn't bring any benefit either. - When should you go from 2h to dual 1h? As soon as you can. I would go as far as saying you should get a Jade amulet so you can do it earlier. I was at Act 2 Normal when I did the change, and my dps just skyrocketed. - Mana problems at low levels? Get the Mana Leech gem ASAP. Anger and Wrath are just too important to sacrifice. If your problem is max mana, use a Paua ring. Normal difficulty is easy, so you can sacrifice that ring slot until you get to Cruel. Well... this post turned out to be long (just goes to show how much I love the build) but I have 2 last questions for Victor, Fraya, and the rest of the experienced folks: 1. On Static Blows and the shock effect in general, how early should I take it? As I understand, the duration of the shock effect is determined by how much damage you did with the blow that triggered it and the total health the enemy has. To be honest I don't really know much about it, but my understanding leads me to believe that I should take it when my damage per blow is much higher. Should I take it during Merciless or just wait till end-game maps? 2. On the 6 passive points used at Body & Soul. Just how worth it are the 60% armor and 10% resists? How useful are they when compared to the alternatives? And even if I take it eventually, how early should I? I would appreciate ANY insight on these 2 topics; with my current knowledge I feel I can't make an informed decision when it comes to them. |

Take Static Blow as soon as you have covered your basis (hp, resists etc). With a decent amount of lightning dmg on your weapons + Wrath you do more than enough lightning dmg to shockstack mobs.

Hi Reverend!
just a quick question because your amount of HP startles me greatly. When i add up the HP on your gear i got around +320 Life and your write in your post that you end up with 3,6k HP. I specced nearly the same as you, I'm 77 and only missing 2 life nodes (20% in total) and have a base HP of 510 on my gear. I end up with 4.070 HP. Why do i only have 400 HP more then you when my base life is that much more. I'm really considering to drop HP on my gear as it doesnt seem to make that big of a difference. And another thing, how do you really determine a good weapon? Because simply adding up the elemental damage and multiplying it with the attackspeed doesn't really work because of auras. Or do you have a spreadsheet where all your + elemental dmg is included? Also you seem to be going for weapons with a very high Lightningdmg roll, even wearing a 2 ele weapon instead of 3. Is this because of the nearly max lightdmg roll? These are my weapons, should i go for ones with high light dmg? Thanks in advance! IGN: Me_Smash

" Well it wont help at all ebcause i have already taken Iron Reflexes, so arrow dodging wont do much. " First off, thanks for helping the other out with tips! 1.I took static blows pretty late, at around level 80, you can take it earlier if you can, if you do a lot of lightning the shock will last longer, the good part is that shocked enemeis take 40% more damage per shock charge, which is quite a huge bonus. 2.I pondered the same thing for quite a while, and it tunred out that i cant really get that much armor and resistances as well in only 6 nodes, its a good trade-off in my opinion, armor is quite important, you need around 6k armor for the endgame so you can mitigate most hits. " Sorry i ddint notice this question! By taking iron reflexes you get quite a lot of armor from grace aura, iron reflexes is close to a lot of life nodes and elemntal damage as well and also the quite important mana nodes. Any evasion or armor you use with IR will be increased by the armor passives, thats why i took them. I took the es/armor nodes for the armor/resitances not for the ES, but the good part is you can use es/eva, es/ar gear as well, this makes it one of the most flexible builds gear wise out there. This means all gear helps this build, you can use anything you find, except for pure ES i dont recommend unless it has incredible mods, but it doesn't provide any damage mitigation. " You have more life because my gear is mostly for DPS, when i do level 75+ maps i get more defsinve gear that lwoers my dps by a bit but ups my life by over 4.3k, its just tactics basically, you dont need much life to do low elvel maps and with this dps i can speed through them easily, on high level maps though i do need more life because monsters hit much harder. Your weapons are okay but you can always get better.
