Oro's Molten Strike (level 70)
So after I made this build I found out there is a popular build designer named Oro, this has nothing to do with him.
level 100 tree: With current gear at level 100 I'll have 8500ES and 47 mana regen/s Current level 68 tree: They key item in this build is Oro's Sacrifice Infernal Sword, hence the name. Even though with my own gear I don't do anything but fire damage, I took Avatar of fire simply for party play. The wrath aura gets cut in half, converted to fire, then multiplied out over something like 271% increased fire damage. Again in party play with somebody using anger, it will also be multiplied out over 271% increased fire damage. This makes both wrath and anger incredibly strong with this build and they are very common auras to see in party with the popularity of the buzzsaw build. Example party DPS
Spoiler
DPS right now is 10,378 with all level 16 gems with no quality. Since the only thing leveling Molten Strike does is increase the physical damage from your weapon, and our weapon has no physical damage, using a level 1 has no draw back, which keeps mana use low. Currently only 28 mana per use in 5L. From what I saw leveling up, life gain on hit with gmp was far better than life leech, but LGoH doesn't work with chaos inoculation. The only reason I really went CI was to use the 30% attack speed from the gloves. Molten strike scales very well with more attack speed. It does make things difficult though using all ES gear with mostly strength based gems. At level 70 I have 6650 ES. The things you need for this build to work are fairly few, as such you can see I'm not using any gems in my chest or boots yet, which leaves many options for CWDT setups, I just ran out of currency to link the chest and then chrom the boots so haven't set things up yet. Reflect Obviously no physical damage so that's easy, and for elemental reflect so far with Elemental Adaptation and Purity of fire we have 79% resist. I plan to grab the Diamond Skin node for another +2, and when purity of fire hits level 20, we'll be at 83% fire resist. Even now though I haven't had any issues with reflect. If you were playing in a HC league, doing a weapon swap to a 1h sword and the Rise of the Phoenix would take you to 91% fire resist, then swap back after ele reflect has been killed. I would love some comments and criticism, help refine the build and make it better. Sorry my post isn't all pretty like some Gear incase you didn't see it in the link above
Spoiler
The only gems I'm using as of now are in the sword, helm, and gloves. The chest and boots are just leveling things until I can fuse and chrom them. Then I'll probably use vaal molten shell or vaal immortal call and trigger gems. Maybe a totem ign: orosmoltenstrike build thread: http://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/918546 Last edited by nikkofromchico on May 14, 2014, 6:50:07 PM

I liked the idea of this build, you have a video? Get tanking right? How many auras you can run?

" I don't have any video yet, but I can probably get one. Tanking is fine. with molten shell up, 6 endurance charges, and a granite flask I'm at 90% physical reduction. Just running determination and purity of fire. ign: orosmoltenstrike

Just curious what you chose for your bandit quests, I started using this build on my 20 templar and I am just not sure what to pick for the best bang for the buck, other than that so far it feels really powerful! Thanks for the build!

" normal skill point cruel kraytin merciless oak Weapons to pick up while leveling would also include Hrimnor's Hymn at 17 Geofri's Baptism at 27 Rigvald's Charge at 44 then a 350-400 dps 2 hander around 50-55 until you can get oro's sacrifice. ign: orosmoltenstrike build thread: http://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/918546 Last edited by nikkofromchico on May 14, 2014, 4:33:21 PM

Oro's really is not a great choice for molten strike. Physical Damage weapons scales so much better with molten strike. Molten strike is really about the projectiles as well so taking point blank is a huge boost. You might have a tool tip of 10k, on its own is sub par for oros, but your projectiles will hit like cotton balls compared to a physical damage weapon. Get a top shelf end game 2h and it will blow the damage or oro's clear out of the water, even semi ok end game weapons like 450 pDPS will severely out dps oro's
Since you are pure fire damage as it is you will want to probably drop faster attacks in exchange for fire penetration. Check out this spread sheet to help calculate damage: https://docs.google.com/a/my.csun.edu/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0Ai7lxebgMvl1dGhiNDRINks2NFgtTy1GM3VGcWVheFE&usp=sharing#gid=16 I highly recommend as well. massive boost in damage and clear speed.
" You sure about that? With oro's i have 10566 tooltip with the chart showing 33k projectile dps. Trading for a 430dps sword with 92% physical and 8%cold, I have 8450 tooltip. Chart showing my projectile dps: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0Am1Cs2Ng-mmDdGJkWEdzcWl3c0NGbEVoOE44UFVJbmc#gid=16 it's a bit out of whack, but you get the idea. And if you payed attention you would see I'm CI. Removing my mediocre 390 ES helm and trading for the three dragons drops my ES 1200, so 1200 less life. Not worth it. And I know point blank is da bomb, but it's too far away on the skill tree and I can't fit it in my 5L. Once 6L i'll decide between that and concentrated effect. Of course ideally I could run both and get leech in other ways ign: orosmoltenstrike

Positive.
if a 430 is giving you those numbers imagine what your damage would be with a decent, 500+ pDPS 2h or a godly and stupid expensive 600+ pDPS if one could drop the coin. Oro's is cheap but it really caps your dps compared to what it can be. a 5L chest cost around a couple of chaos. a 5L oros cost about what, 2ex? With 2ex you could pick up a about 500 pDPS 2h and already be topping oro's damage. just saying as far as overall damage goes, nothing will compare to pure physical.
" If 430 dps is giving me 8k, I'd imagine a 500dps might match my oro's 10,500. And a 500 pDPS sword cost around 2 exalts. I bought the oro's for 3c and spent 20 jewelers and 46 fuse on it to 5L (which i know is great numbers). Conversely a 5L 800 ES chest actually cost around 8 exalts. To craft it needs 3 prefixes, which means hundreds of alts followed by a lucky regal followed by a luckier exalt. 1 in thousands to try crafting. Again though, remember I'm "capping" my dps at (with 20/20 gems) around 50k single and 40k splash dps for a 2 exalt weapon. You really don't need more than that. I've played 150k dps facebreaker build before and it's just silly. I could solo a map piety in a 6 man party with ease. Again if I had a mirror to drop I could probably grab a 600 pDPS 2h weapon, I'm not specked into any specific type, so anything would do, and I could probably add 5k dps, maybe 10k, maybe. But this build isn't a mirror build. I bought mediocre ES gear that I self linked with self found currency, haven't even really profited from any high value uniques or trades this league. Edit: checking the chart, with the exact same setup using a 600 pdps weapon, I only gain 2k total dps, both initial hit and projectile hit combine. I'm not great at looking at all combinations though, so maybe I'm missing something. I'm not trying to shoot down your critique, I do want it. I'm just trying to actually argue the merit of my build and really do want ways in which it fails. ign: orosmoltenstrike build thread: http://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/918546 Last edited by nikkofromchico on May 16, 2014, 7:53:05 AM
