Glacial Hammer Marauder ( * Shatter your enemies * ) - "permafreeze" Cheap & very tanky

There's no reason whatsoever to add stun to the mix if you are already permafreezing.

you try to use GH just like any other melee skill - that is scale it with attack speed

if you want to do so - try heavy strike or any other melee gem

Glacial Hammer's main characteristic is freeze/culling. freeze duration is a linear function of single hit damage NOT dps.

and because freeze is based on mobs HP (plus GH provides a random chance) - Elemental Proliferation is pretty much mandatory (just one mob frozen == entire pack frozen)

because of that:


AOE setup: GH+Cold Pen+Ele Prolif+ WED+melee splash
Single target setup: GH+cold pen+WED+melee phys

i got lucky with Gloves - Temporal Chain + freeze == fun. This provides better effective damage than frostbite (ofc single target dps is lower, but given the EleProlif+freeze+temp chains integration there is nothing better than culling entire packs)

cold atziri belt for leech and another freeze chance + atziri flask for straight ~19% MORE damage + leech. why people ignore these flasks is beyond me but probably because these are cheap..

edit: and i use hatred and WRATH as auras. why? because (with my lightning roll on weapon) i can also proliferate shock stacks (Static blows). Paper dps is quite low. Clearing speed - very high. most mobs get culled and there is no dps metter for that

but shock only comes from criticals and we can't crit

I'm still deciding which one is better. If a permastun build or a permafreeze.

I would like to find out which needs the least gear (although I already had this permafreeze build's unique gear) and which is best suited for endgame content.

Static Blows - check this notable passive. this is source of shocks in my build. works pretty damn well

permastun build REQUIRES 'reduced enemy stun threshold' nodes. without it you might stun there and there but not when it counts - vs bosses/exiles

permafreeze requires smart play with elemental proliferation and not killing the 'frozen' enemy by accident. permafreeze builds are not about raw damage but about cunning.

Permafreeze shatters everything into nice looking icicles. No permastun build can achieve that.

I'm pretty sure there is a formula that says: "If the lightning damage x of an attack, compared to health y of monster, is so low that the shock would only last for z split seconds, no shock will be applied".

And your lightning damage (Weapon + Wrath?) looks to me like it can't shock anything important.

You seem to 'know better'. Learn how to exploit elemental proliferation. Youll understand then.

You cannot proliferate stuns..

Also. Please take a look at my gloves and implication of temporal chains. There is a reason why i do not use 'obvious' curse (frostbite). As ive said this build works very very well. In fact it is probably my safest build ever. This char has ~3k life and i die only when i decide to afk or do intoxicated gaming..

evanti's permastun build thread says different about that I can't permastun bosses...

I had used shock passive in the past with 100ish lightning damage and didn't shock a thing. You with 50...I rather not shock.

This, is a cc build as well as the permastun when not soloing, let the damage be done by your party members while you make everyone ice

actually i do more like ~650 lightning dps not 50

and it works like this: you hit and apply temporal chains. shock and freeze threshold goes down thanks to that (because that minimal time goes down). you apply shock. your next hit is 30% higher, you surely apply shock, your third hit deals 60% more and applies another shock.. (ofc with 20% probability due to Static Blows but you need to shock just one member of a mob pack and that pretty much offsets that).

this works. but it is not 'paper dps' so many seem to ignore it
