" I see you mentioned this a few times in this topic... about [tooltip DPS] x 3(LMP) or x5 (GMP) but that doesn't work for Flame Totem right because it doesn't "shotgun"? At least... I have used dual incinerate totems for a long time thinking it was better than FT becuase that doesn't shotgun. Or... is the difference that incinerate always pierces and FT "only" shotguns. I have used FT once briefly but noticed it took much longer to kill large groups of mobs because the arc is not as wide as incinerate and it doesn't pierce (or shotgun). Downside of incinerate is that you need to attach it to a spell totem which lowers DPS considerably and takes up an extra link compared to FT. Also, it needs some time to ramp up to full potential so re-casting is cheap in mana but means it has to start over again. Having said this... since you have a 6L anyway have you ever tried using incinerate on a spell totem? The nodes will be exactly the same. " You already explained it quite well, incinerate might be better for culling purposes in the end but so far got no problems with my FT due to that i can keep in FP and use heartbreaker and just cull everything on screen if i group play. The fact is you wont get as much totem life too with incinerate (and on stuff like double courtyard boss they would die even faster then my FT's atm, and they die quite fast with 6bosses roaming around) plus the extra proj speed which % incinerate is also wasted imo if i wear FP. Spelltotem % is sadly increased duration. About the totem dps, i might aswell be wrong but ive seen numerous people in previous topics calculate it this way, some even add in fire pen calculations and such but im actually not that worried about dps anymore now that my clear speed is still ok with 2k FT dps. And as you can see on dominus kill video the range/spread isnt really that bad, i could try out incinerate/spell totem later on when there are some higher level ones available tho, but that would only be in my 6L for group play where i just cull, soloing i still think i would prefer the FT. |

" Tabula Rasa indeed will improve your dps alot, tho also lose quite abit of armor/hp/resistances but yea for leveling if ur resistance capped i think it would work out, since your totems should be getting most of the hits anyway due to all the support gems. The fact that i still like this char is that i find uniques/lots of rares while leveling, what else would i want?:D And doesn't matter which league u are on! SC is still loved and used by many and will be. As far as i know people are doing well on invasion too with this build, there are atleast 5 ppl who i know use the build and are mapping, some also finding uniques like aegis and such! |

" I've started an FT marauder Friday evening.. I lost my 69 fire trapper earlier (got cornered and facing 2 cold based totems from Vaal construct) and I'm trying to determine my build for next league.... Anyway... I've used incinerate totems a lot so it's good to compare and it seems indeed that FT has way more life than a spell totem. I can now actually put the totems next to an invading boss and they either kill him or do a lot of damage before I have to recast. Projectile speed is actually really nice on incinerate for the shotgun/pierce beam. I could always notice the difference well between a no quality and higher quality gem. My marauder is now lvl44 and I'm using a 4L searing touch so I'm cutting through mobs like mad. What I love the most actually is the Blood Magic keystone. FT-Faster Casting-GMP-Added Chaos damage costs about 160 mana now. Without BM I would have so much trouble with mana but now it's so easy. I used to go for a life/ES build but I also find that weaker than this so next league I'll be going FT or Fire Trapper. I have a question about OP's build: why is he intentionally skipping the +8% totem damage nodes?

" Because you don't need the damage and since it's an Invasion viable build it's more important to go for defense nodes than getting a bit extra DPS. If the totem can withstand some damage it will continue to do damage... if it's gone in 1 hit it won't do damage. After all... since the totems pull aggro you also want them to be a bit tanky. " Skipping dps nodes cause i felt i had enough dps with an 6L, ive taken some extra life nodes now and up to 5700hp with double andvarius. Still got 2040tooltip dps which clears solo fast enough in my eyes, in 5L u can alwayas take the extra dps points if u think your doing not enough dps. |
