Why I Believe RNG in Excess is Counter Productive

In any case, my intent was most definitely not to demean, but to give sound advice. Giving advice can be a challenge; there's a danger of coming off either authoritarian (white-knight fascist) or patronizing (condescending). Perhaps I stumbled into one of those dangers, and if so... honestly, meh. The point is I was trying to give some advice, and if it gets listened to that's great, and if it doesn't I'm pretty sure we'll live. It's only the interwebs, after all.

Also, it's not about convincing myself I am above everyone, it's about enjoying that form of intellectual activity. All of this forum stuff is just an activity I happen to enjoy, and, yes, I'm a social creature who wants to share it with others. For example, "devaluate" is not a word; it's "devalue," and things don't "come over offensive," they either come over offensively or they come over as offensive. Did I type the previous sentence just to rub your nose in things? Absolutely not! I did it because picking out the "devaluates" and such is something I happen to enjoy for their own sake; I don't do it against you or for anyone, I do it for the "devalues."

Does this make me a geek? Emphatically yes. However, finding fellow geeks to geek with is part of why I'm here.

If this particular eccentricity is to be seen as a "character flaw," then I'll take the Charan comparison as a compliment.

However, some people don't have the same motives and purity of intentions. It is quite clear who those people are just by the way they handle certain situations and form there sentences.

Some people on these forums seem to think throwing out latin sentences in a room full of latin illiterates is intelligent. that's rather troubling from my point of view.
