I have read just about every post in this tread and the term "fast clearing" or doing anything fast, really does not apply to me and my character, but some of you seem to be saying that your character does a fast clear. Please be more specific in what the definition of a "Fast Clear" is.

My examples:

Once I get to Piety (approx 7 min killing everything in my path), she alone takes me 2-4 min to kill, most of my time is spent just catching her. I never get close to dying but she pops about a lot. By comparison, my Templar takes about the same amount of time to get to her, but will kill Piety in under 30 seconds from ding to dead, that to me is a fast kill.

Maps level 66-70 I clear everything, npc's/boxes/barrels all at not too much of a risk, but it is anything but a fast clear. (30 minutes typically)

I recently hit level 77 with your build.

I have taken 1 +30 dex and 1 +30 int nodes that I hope to be able to spec out of somewhere down the road.

I have the recommended gloves and boots (pretty good roll on the gloves), With those Windscream boots, my little cockroach runs like she has a load in her britches -3 run speed, pretty slow.

When solo, which is about 50% of my play time, I use Flammability & Elemental Weakness, in our four person group I add Enfeeble and take out EW due to it being covered by another. In our group, all family members we each have 125 - 180 IR.

I use Frost wall-Faster Casting-Increased Duration & Added Cold Damage as my go to skill. (Not sure how much the added cold damage is providing, it lists 39% added chill duration to enemies, couldn't think of any other gem to use) My frost wall lasts 4.2 sec, is 28 units long and I can build walls that are very impressive, completely blocking just about everything. (In many situations I will drop 2 flame totems, 2 walls, debuff's, flame totem - wall - totem - wall - totem) I throw in flammability & Elem Weak/Enfeeble as needed.

My 2 CWDT sets: w/molten shell - frost wall - End Cry & Im Call, great tools. My lightning warp w/red dur & faster cast is great as well.

I tried the trap thingie and really never saw any advantages over my frost wall. FW is a true life saver, I can just hold down my center mouse button and drag a complete circle around myself if I want or I can block a corridor or doorway forever, just sitting behind it allowing the totems do it's thing. I can place the totems in front of, behind or in the wall and any damage coming my way is minimal at best ----------------- --------- so far!

Very open to advice on what gear upgrades I should look for. Most of my gems are not quality and I am aware that I need to address them. Input on which gems to do first and why would be a big help as well.

* Current upgrade imo is a ring to replace the 12% IR - new ring would only need 11% cold & 10% fire and still be maxed resist. Hoping to find one with both and chaos and IR. I think if I get my chaos resist to +25% I will be in pretty good shape with all my resists then.

My Gear: Self found except for the 7c spent on boots.



I have followed the build closely and I have a ton of respec points available, so if you see something you recommend changing please let me know your thoughts, including why you recommend something, helps.

Thanks for the detailed information, its easier to answer. ok 1stly your dps is pretty low. im 3k dps without irr gem atm. with irr around 2.4k.

Just some additional info for you once you hit late game. every level flame totem will add 'around' 100dmg , and added chaos dmg 70 dmg.

so once u hit lvl 20 flame totem and added chaos. you should have 1387 dmg + (100x3)+ (70x3) = 1887dmg. Why so much difference with dps compared to mine? its because of you dont have cast speed on both wands.

the 1st wand is really really rare and i was lucky to get it. however if u use 2x wands at
80% + 18% cast ( assuming not top tier rolls ) you should get much higher dps. u have to try for yourself to calculate.

As for piety,i never really liked farming her.once i hit 70 i started grinding maps till i started hitting 75 map pools and now im just farming dominus , he cant run away.

Its weird that you are level 77 but your added chaos and flame totems gem is just halfway to 18, im not quite sure if thats normal.

add me in game if you want we could run a couple of maps to show you the difference.

ps: those people stating fast clear have not reached end game content yet, no offense.

i mentioned a couple of times im still trying to resolve the armor issue at higher level maps 75 and above, especially annoying mods like half regen or vulnerability + 30% more dmg + faster attack.
Generally this build level 31-65 its damn easy. From level 70 and above its really gear dependent if you want to run with <200irr and high level maps which is pretty common for most builds (except for summoners)

Basic summary for you : go for 80%spell dmg , 18% cast speed , faster projectiles is a bonus if u can get without losing more than 200 dps wands.

AND LEVEL UP THOSE GEMS.
I too have been looking at the leveling of my Gems: Flame Totem - Chaos and others.

Specifically between levels 75 & 77 I needed many millions of experience less to level each gem than what it was going to take me to reach the next level for my character, and yet the gems did not level. I thought that maybe the gems are on a different point leveling requirement than what is required to the character.

At lvl 77 I have 665,138,410 xp -- I need 723,298,169 to level = 58,159,759 needed. All my gems need less to level, which was the same case between levels 76 & 77 and they did not level.

I keep my chaos gem when not used in an offhand switch weapon, other than that my other gems connected to my Flame Totum have been in the same location since level 53 when I put on the chest.

To restate: I need considerably more than the 35 million xp to level each gem in my chest piece, but I dont expect those gems to level before I hit 78. This was very similar from 76 - 77 it did not level then and the xp bar on the gems hardly moved.

I just ran a map and picked up 5 mil xp on character and 10% of the xp was added to each gem, 500,000 total roughly

If gems get 10% of each xp point gained, then the gem leveling is working as intended.

I have a level 73 scion and 69 duelist. My 73 scion is my flame totem character. But, could I respec my duelist to flame totem and be just as good? I'd rather then respec the scion to righteous fire.

well you would waste a few nodes as compared to scion or marauder but you could.
Im level 76 right now and equipped flame totem/chaos damage the second I hit 31. Both gems are level 17 and ~halfway to 18.

Its working as intended. Lvl 16-17 gems is a HUGE jump in terms of exp. If you manage to get into any 74+ maps theyll shoot up again. Right now im getting ~3% on them per 70 map.

Not sure if you've mentioned it anywhere Assmacus but Haste DOES work on totems. So getting in a party with it or finding a piece of corrupted gear with it would boost your damage like crazy.
yeah thats nice. i think haste should add roughly 100+ - 200dmg?
