WORLD FIRST USE of Vaal orb

I had to log in to post about how hilarious I find this.

They did warn us that Vaal orbs have "random effects", "some of which may be harmful". Having said that, this is MUCH worse than what I was expecting. Not only did it downgrade to rare, but also blew away the 6 links? The hell?

Why use these on valuable gear at all?

Answer: DON'T use these on valuable gear.

I guess maybe these are intended to be used on mediocre gear to try to salvage it into something somewhat useful.

Yeah seems completely pointless. Does it do this to rares too? Why would use a vaal orb if theres a good chance it completely rerolls my item into some garbage? Does it turn my level 20 gem into a lvl 1 gem? This is a fun mechanic?

This isn't rng this is just mean.

I'm only using these on replaceable items. For instance:

1. Cheap, common uniques
2. Non-legacy skill gems (take time, but there's infinite numbers of them)
3. Possibly offhand gear I don't use (could be an interesting effect on there--never know if something is like "gems gain 10% more xp in this item."

Rares and legacy items I'm never touching with these abominable things.

I guess that brings up the question, though--can you get Kaoms with sockets?

This is the dumbest shit I've ever seen. Who's idea was this? And who decided it would be a good idea to NOT warn us?
