Im having trouble right now, just only finished act 2 and cannot use a decent bow or gems which require dex, I so have a light quiver with +34 dex but only for a total of 58 dex.
What am I supposed to do now?

I was stuck in this too! haha luckily i found dex rings and amulet, so thats what i would suggest for yourself aswell

take a quick gander the the rest of the pages, but the first page should have sufficient info.


basically, to get dex:
spec into the 2 +30 dex nodes nearby (if you are too lazy to look for these or for the screen shot in the thread, then no on can help you)
light quiver: you have one, great, but did you know you can roll ele dmg AND dex on the quiver? get one of those if you are lacking
ammy (amulet) - onyx amy with +18 or so all stats. boom: int for wrath, dex for bow. alternatively, you can run a jade ammy if you are desperate, where 25+ are easy to find
rings: same as quiver - roll ele dmg/aspd/dex/whatever you need
rest of gear: they are also run dex. if you are really having a hard time, these will alleviate your problems. trust me, i was in the same predicament with bows and gems needing int and dex (rarity, wrath, split arrow, LMP, etc) but a little sacrifice to wear the bow may be best in the long run.

also, you have so many pieces of gear that can roll dex - you just gotta learn to balance, and thats part of the game.

lastly, save your orbs and just buy the gear with dex already on it.
got LMP (traded 1 alch for it).

now which is better? (dont have 4L equipment yet)
LA + LMP + Life gain on hit
split arrow + wep ele dmg + life gain on hit

Would probably depend on your bow. If you have a bow with good ele damage, then LA is the way to go because of the multiplicative properties of ele damage and LA.

If your bow is more physical damage, then split arrow.

my bow is +44% phys dmg, 6-12 fire, 13-23 cold.

split arrow + wep ele dmg gives 117dps, LA+LMP only gives 55?!
but LA + wep ele dmg gives me 118 dps.

i'll stick with split arrow since there are lots of ele resist monsters in Act3!

LMP lowers the DPS pretty significantly while wep ele dmg is multiplicative with your normal DPS instead of lowering it any.

You pretty much want to stick with Split Arrow until you find a bow with 2 or 3 +40 or more elemental damages before you'll really start seeing high enough DPS from LA worth switching from Split Arrow.

frenzy instead of burning arrow is only 154dmg. WTF?

How much would frenzy dmg be if it had 3 charges?

It would depend on the level of the Frenzy gem (anywhere from 12% to 30% total). Most likely, unless it's a 30% increase from being level 16 or higher, its not going to be very significant compared to the increase from Burning Arrow at a similar level.

wiki says lvl1 frenzy is +4% dmg and +5% speed, thus +9%.

3 charges = 9x3 = +27%

154 x 27% = 195dps, same as burning arrow :(

at lvl 4, frenzy gains +2% total. 3 charges x 2% = +6%.
burning arrow at lvl 4 is +9%, and costs less in mana.

i guess i'm sticking with burning arrow till i get elemental hit.
