As Panini showed, Projectile damage increases cloud damage. LOL - otherwise I'd have about 10 wasted nodes on my tree and a Drillneck and Pierce gem on my Poison Arrow doing absolutely nothing.

As far is cost...I am not exactly sure how to handle from a guide perspective - the thread has been almost a running journal as the build matured. But it has been a cheap build to play. My last upgrade, the level 4 Empower wasn't cheap...but I just bought it, and it's not as if the build magically became level 93 and the gem showed up...it played all along without it. The 21/20 Poison Arrow wasn't purchased. I literally leveled 6 Poison Arrow Gems to 20/20 in my offslot and thee Vall'd them (incidentally, I nailed 2 of them and got to sell the extra). Anyone can do that and it costs nothing. My Bow just became a 6L, it was a 5L for a very long time.

So - while you may see my last few upgrades and feel they aren't cheap - the build also works just fine without them. And...frankly...that gem cost me 83ex. And there's nothing left...literally nothing that I can buy to do more damage. Compare that to say, a Glyph Mark, or Loath Bane and all of the Mirrored Jewelry that often accompanies those builds. The build is cheap to play through it's normal power band, and the twinking of the build is extremely inexpensive compared to other twinked builds.

I keep getting PM's about how I calculate Poison arrow DPS - so I will add it here, and then update it into the main post once I complete all of my 1.2 Enhancements. Also of note is that this is not some DPS shenanigans where people have LMP, and multiply their DPS by 3 or something like that. Poison Arrow's cloud tooltip does not accurately show anything with an "Area" tag into the cloud damage. This is most commonly Concentrated Effect (more) and Carcass Jack (increased). It has been verified by GGG that they do impact the cloud damage, just do not show in the tooltip. For some odd reason, since the on hit effect of Poison Arrow isn't Area damage, they cannot visibly display the secondary effect accurately. Much like Lightning Strike or Molten Strike tooltips don't display the projectile damage.

But it's easy to verify and confirm GGG's statement it works despite tooltip limitations - Concentrated Effect is so strong that the increased damage is easily visible despite no tooltip change. So what I calculate is simply how the tooltip would read if it wasn't erroneously missing any added area damage. To calculate you need:

-Current displayed tooltip DPS
-Base PA Gem damage (hover over gem while it's equipped so it has the impact of any + levels)
-missing increased area modifiers
-missing more increased area modifiers

In my current case - these are my numbers

-10,529.9 Tooltip
-2,250 Level 28 Gem Base
- 24% (12 from Carcass Jack, 12 from Blast Radius passive)
-70% (level 21 Concentrated Effect - it gets an extra level from the +1 in the bow)

The calculation is:

[(Missing Increased Modifiers x Base gem damage)+Displayed Tooltip DPS]*(1+Missing More Modifiers)

For me:

[(.24*2250)+(10529.90)]*1.7

18,818.83 DPS

Also how much would you say your current bow is worth?

Bandits are Oak for the HP > Kill all for skill point > Kill all for Skill Point.

Sadly, this bow is pretty expensive now - probably about 60 exalted which you will not have for a very long time (I see you have 1 character - level 26). For you, to start, I would try and get your hands on a:

Can usually buy for 1 chaos

And then you would want to upgrade eventually to a +2 Bow, something like:



That will get you into early maps where you can start trying to earn some currency to round out the build, and will give you good performance for little cost.

At the moment I am playing this build and although my gems are not at max Level and I only have 5-L it is working quite well.
Recently I had a different idea for the second skill. Instead of Fire Trap I am using
Ball Lightning - Curse on Hit - Vulnerability - Elemental Proliferation - Added Lightning Damage
Just as an idea to further improve the damage of your poison arrow.

2k is a little low, I am assuming you mean tooltip. Although if you are following the guide, it shouldn't really be that low. What level are you, and what level is your Poison arrow? Are you at least using a +2 bow?

I am 71lev, actualy 1,861 chaos dmg/sec, ye i know is low. Im using +2bow links: poison arrow+ce+slower proj+faster proj+pierce, my poison arrow is lev 16 now.

I started some low maps but im doing it very slowly, and there is a lot of chaos resistance mobs ;/
