Comprehensive List of New Player Resources

I appreciate you for doing this for all the new players comming in.

However, I don't think you should be linking to specific posts/builds for each of the classes, since the great thing about PoE is that there is no one "correct" way to play each class, and everyone can play the classes differently.

I think new players should really instead be looking at a variety of builds, especially the more unusual ones, to get an idea of how the various bits of a PoE build fits together. Linking to the class forums should be sufficient for this list.

Also, another good resource for new players is the build-of-the-week videos on GGG's youtube channel. I think they really do a good job of showcasing the build possibilities in PoE. http://www.youtube.com/user/grindinggear/videos?query=build+of+the+week

Thanks for the link, I'll check it out!

I have to mention though, your attitude (which is common) about posting links to builds is annoying. Not everyone likes floundering around wasting time before they figure out what actually works and what doesn't in a game. Some of us (like me) have families, school, and jobs all at once and don't have 8 hours a day to roll new characters with, like the many annoying kids I see in global chat.

PS: linking to the class forums is useless. They are full of terrible builds from kids that have no idea what they are doing asking for "critiques". This is why I couldn't find a link to Shadow / Witch / Duelist builds that didn't seem idiotic yet.

Agree with it being ok to post builds

But I suggest posting builds with the least gear requirements... being this is for new players, those would be the most suitable for them. Once they've gained some items and experience they can then start experimenting with other unique builds.

Voting for sticky.

Well yeah, that was a requirement to get listed in the first place. I don't think any of these builds are especially gear intensive, are they?

Wouldn't hurt to have a link in here as well.

Quest Reward List or tinyurl.com/poequests

You can check out the forum thread here.
The forum could use MORE consolidated info threads :) The sticky list in some of them is outrageous, lol.

Thanks for putting this together!

Can't say I did. I was just trying really hard to find good builds I could learn the game with that didn't require a bunch of gear or weird tricks to make work. It was not easy! So I decided to compile the ones I did find. More suggestions for newbie friendly builds are welcome, or discussion about the links I've posted.
Nice. good to know people are doing research that arent supporters.

I merely suggested that someone make an index of some sort. To clear up the forums a little.

Basically what you have there. Mechanics thread. crafting. unique items. stuff like that. Usefull information that would help new players.

For one i know people are lazy. Cause i can look at myself, when it comes to finding some information. In the end i sometimes just give up n post a thread without looking even further. Usually its cause i have the wrong keywords when searching.

No Resolute Technique Version v2

This is an alternate version of the Templar build I had linked to originally. In this version I revamped it to take out Resolute Technique. It didn't sit well with me not being able to get critical hits in an elemental spec, and as it turns out the OP of that thread liked my version of the build enough to add it to his OP as an option.

I still don't claim to know what I'm doing, but if he thinks it is good, I'll trust him.
