Hey, I was wondering if you could provide a full explanation on snapshotting aura's, or if you have already written such an explanation, appoint me to the appropriate page on this thread.
Thanks in advance! |

Really amazing build.
Offers insane dps without being a glass cannon. Thanks for sharing! Last edited by amksoljanka#7925 on Mar 24, 2014, 3:39:01 PM

Amazing build indeed! I kind of accidentally ended up with something similar before stumbling on to it but when I did, I went out, bought a bunch of regrets and used it to optimize my build to great effect.
If you could help me figure out what the best way to upgrade further I would really appreciate it. First off, I'm running on a L90 shadow with the following gear/links:
Spoiler
As you can see my variant utilizes aegis, which leaves me with no need for arctic armour (~13.6k armor with grace). My biggest obstacle at this moment seems to be mana regen, however. I switched from dual taming to having DF because it provides a good chunk of regen, boosts my mana cap a bit higher to have more shots in the barrel as it were, and because it protects from freeze as I'm not using auxium. I also rely on the strength from Doryani at the moment. I'm trying to figure out what my practical dps limitation with this approach is. I'm at 29k PS with LMP Chain, using a L1 PS due to mana efficiency (20/20 could push my dps up by 10-15% but also add ~20% more mana consumption. Not having a spelldamage shield is also roughly 20% missing. And I suppose being level 90 instead of 95 or so would account for around 20% as well. You might also notice I'm using added lite instead of faster attacks, which is naturally due to being mana starved so burst > sustained; I'm curious if you've tried added lite for yourself as it seems to be huge for me. And then there's of course my rather mediocre wand. I find it somewhat hard to gauge just how much a higher physical dps would add to my total dps; obviously 30+ GCM alone should be around 10% (if not more). I don't have the budget for a mirror wand, so I'm wondering if it's worthwhile to upgrade to something cheaper or to save up assuming it is worth the jump. Also, have you tried thunderfists yourself? The added lite on them helps with my single target PS (which is around 63K if I recall at the moment). Thanks again ^ IGN: Noveria / Moonraze / Wunderbaum

" For starters, Buy a level 5 20 quality power siphon. Mana cost for level 1 and 5 are the same. Level 6 will be an increase. Personally i think Aegis is a bad choice for a build like yours. A simple upgrade, and probably huge upgrade would be using. Relatively cheap shield with good ES, very nice spell damage and the block is always a nice bonus. As for Arctic Armour, it works so well with mana regen because the extremely high mana regen sustains power siphon and keeps a powerful flat physical reduction on. With Arctic Armour and 8k~ armour, i take close to 0 damage from physical reflect with chain. Whenever i chain, or split my hits into lots of smaller ones, the reduction is applied multiple times. Eg. 20k hit, take 1k reflect. Arctic armour makes it 800 5x 4k hit. Take 200 reflect x5. Arctic Armour makes it 0x5 = 0 It seems that lightning is working very well for you as you're stacking lightning damage on multiple items. For me, faster attacks is superior to ANY other support gem. Additional Accuracy is a little less and Added cold allows me to perma freeze. Your build looks heavily elemental and i'm sure the wand deserves an upgrade to support the rest of your items. I'm also curious how much ES you run as you're using a heavy belt, Aegis and dream fragments. Mana regen is tough, very tough. not a lot of option but grabbing mana and mana regen nodes from tree. I suggest getting mana geyser and Deep thoughts. Very well worth it points with great pathing. Good luck with the build. " No gear swapping required for this build, which is nice. You run two 60% auras on Blood Magic reduced down to 45%, leaving 10% in life pool. You run 3 percent reserved auras to 23% each, and Clarity at ~167 mana. If you are using then you would follow these steps: 1.) Equip Mask 2.) Cast auras you want to reserve off Blood 3.) Swap Mask for regular Head gear 4.) Use Mana flask to restore mana pool 5.) Cast Mana reserve auras Done. If you zone, your blood magic will drop and auras cast with it drop. You end up with a random lot of auras reserved still off your mana, and will require a complete redo of steps 1-5. It really gets tedious. One perk of this build was that it is solid at 6 auras, not needing the Mask to push even more. No worries about keeping an extra item in inventory or that temporary vulnerability when buffing and gear swapping. † You were a good man in a bad situation, Fairgraves. †

You could also use something like
depending upon your gem layout. The goal is to use an item that gives Blood Magic to replace the numerous gems you would have socketed otherwise. † You were a good man in a bad situation, Fairgraves. †
