Hi Maxboo (or others),

I've been trying to figure this out for a while and you seem to know what you're talking about with rangers so I'll ask you. For our passives, which nodes between the following are actually worth it for getting our damage up? Can you rank them in order or something? Or give a conversion of how much of each is worth the other?

Increased projectile damage, increased projectile speed, increased physical damage with bows.

I notice (on your non-crit build) you don't go through the projectile damage nodes to ballistics mastery and instead go down for evasion and life. Do those nodes not really increase your damage by that much?

Thanks to anyone who can help me figure out this!

Ranking in General

1. increased projectile dmg
2. increased physical dmg
3. increased physical dmg with bows
4. projectile / arrow speed (no dmg at all, only Speed)

Projectile dmg pushes all Kind of dmg (Fire, Lightning, cold & Phys)

I skiped the projectile nodes Cause they are only 8%. We are a Playing a physical Build so i Chose the 10% physical nodes at the shadow area! In Addition im going to Play Hc so Need the life nodes at the Ranger Start

Newb here, first time to seriously use bow character.

So where's the Leveleing Guide again? (pre 1.2 or 1.2)
What skills can be used when I use the crit build?

Is barrage+crit good? On par with other skills?

The gem setup is Pretty much the Same as in 1.1.5

Thank you for that!

One other question:

For the non-crit build, in your 1.1 guide you suggested 40 life, 18% physical damage, and frenzy charge for the bandit quests.

Is 18% physical damage really better than 8% IAS for this build? On POEbuilder it looks like 8% IAS is more dps but that's assuming I'm still using my current terrible gear. Is the IAS diminishing returns as your gear gets better?

Thanks again!

18% physical dmg is the highest dmg pump you can get in the Game. You Wont find such Thing in the tree. But you will find 8% IAS and more...!

That's not strictly true. There are 24% phys damage with bow nodes, 30% physical damage with axe or mace nodes, and 20% straight physical damage nodes.

What it really comes down to is how much added elemental damage you're doing, and how much IAS vs %phys you have. The more %phys nodes you get, the less effective a single bonus is, since they're additive, and the more effective an IAS increase is, since it's multiplying a bigger total damage. If you're going with a very quick bow and stacking +ele damage effects (herald of ice, flat damage auras, item mods) then IAS might be superior. If you have a ton of IAS nodes and very few %phys nodes, or are trying for any kind of stun build, the %phys node wins. Anywhere in the middle (which is where my current ranger falls, and I'd imagine yours does too) and it's anybody's guess.

Another thing to consider is IAS gives mobility due to less time taken per attack, but also raises mana consumption. Worth factoring into the overall decision.

Oops, sorry it's in a spoiler tag - OLD 1.1.5 Build

I see Frenzy and CoC + EK there.
Ain't that CoC + EK lag often?

Also, can I use Barrage instead of Frenzy? Or that's another build?

What are the bandit rewards that you would take Max?
^ I was wondering the same. I'm playing HC Beyond Crit/Defensive Build.
Thanks!
For a beginner which of the builds would you recommend (crit/no crit)?

also whats easier to use acrobatics or iron reflexes? ( in terms of cost/ accessibility)
