Berek's Grip Ice Spear

This build is designed around these 3 things


Berek's Grip allows for you to effectively have an eight linked Ice Spear. Why is this? With lightning damage and Ice Spear, enemies are shocked and frozen allowing you to leech life and mana from them. This works on the first hit and even works if things are 1 shot. See the videos for how effective this is.

The DPS for crit capped 2nd form is not shown in the tool tip but there is a way to find out the approximate value.

That's with GMP. Swap to LMP for higher single target dps or cold pen to freeze high life bosses.

Projectile Weakness is my curse of choice because the the 100% total pierce chance (tree + Quality curse) allows 2nd form to shred large packs with fewer casts while the 1st form knocks things back into the 2nd forms range.

Lightning warp is used to quickly position yourself for hitting things with Ice Spears' 2nd form.

Enemies that leap or flicker can be dealt with by using a small but very powerful Glacial Cascade. When adding Concentrated Effect to GC with no area increases, the Damage is nearly doubled. This is because a small GC will hit the enemy many times.

With Ice Spears' crit bonus it is not very hard to reach crit cap on the 2nd form allowing you to invest more into crit multiplier.

Can do Atziri

I can beat Atziri but not deathless yet. It probably has more to do with my lack of experience than the build though.

Dropping the Power Charge on Crit and Faster Casting would let this work with a 4-link too.

maybe it's not relevant to the point you are making

crit weakness cannot push overall crit chance over the cap, because normal crit is rolled on strike, and crit weakness' crit is rolled on hit, for the strikes which are non-crit, you have 5-10% chance to crit on hit, since hits are not strikes, they are not additive

Yours is correct. Critical Weakness' roll is separate from the main critical strike calculation which lets it bypass the 95% cap.

Side question: why are the supports on the skill screenshot covered up?

I was keeping the build a secret until I spent most of my nemesis and domination currency investing in the rings :-P I have about 10 of them. The supports in the screen are same as the chest I linked.

why would you need to keep the links a secret? seems like a generic run of the mill setup.

It's fairly obvious, isn't it? If you got a max or near max crit chance, shock stacking becomes very easy, thus overpowering other support gems like added chaos easily. The downside, as usual, is that lightning damage is rolled and therefor differs a lot.

However I honestly don't see why you would not play it easier, go dual totem spork, get Romiras Banquet, and shock stack monsters to death and be immune to reflect? With similar gear and stacking ES or life and crit multiplier (you crit always when you go RT with Romiras) you would have similar dps, maybe even more.
