I guess not, since it all relies on Ghost Reaver leeching enough ES through Vaal Pact. With 1.1.0 Vaal Pact is now much more accessible to most build, but not necessarily this one. Moreover the 40% leech Vaal Pact change affects ES + Ghost Reaver probably more than direct life. Also, with CI the positive trade off of being able to use flasks is wasted. You might be able to get it to work if you pick up Mind over Matter so that you can use flasks to regenerate mana, that acts as a secondary energy shield, but it would most likely be way below sub-optimal.

It works with life and evasion, and uses mana or the Blood Magic skillgem for skills. As such, it should not suffer from the Vaal Pact changes.

I believe this build can still work however it is more optimal for the scion.

The changes to vaal pact effectively mean you need more life leech on gear, so 2% on each ring, 4% on amulet and 2% on gloves would more than likely make up for it. I believe Bakers build only benefited from 10% leech from a 20/20 blood rage, the additional 10% on gear should just about make up for it. Or you could always use a Carnage heart amulet for 10% leech at a reduction in total ES. I could be wrong as im only going on what I think would fix it.

The scion also saves points over the old witch tree picking up more useful things on the way to vaal pact so im sure it is still more than viable.

Is there a tree for this build using the Scion?

What do you gain from CI over being a life based ranger? I wanna do a build next league but do not see any advantages from being CI over life based(even tho you can get allot of ES from the new tree).

This build was made pre 1.1.0, when CI + Vaal Pact + Ghost Reaver was the go-to for high damage crit builds (with the old Vaal Pact life flasks had no effect). Additionally going CI gives you a free blood rage for leech/charges
