I doubt vendoring whites for scrolls is ever worthwhile, but if you've got extra armorer's scraps, orbs of transmutation, or orbs of alteration you can vendor those for scrolls. And while I'm sure you won't get first with that kind of luck, taking the time to run to town, grab your support gem and then buy needed flasks seems worth while compared to fighting Merveil with your starting flasks.

Making extra trips just for scrolls probably isn't a good use of your time; but collecting small whites shortly before you're planning to go back anyway is much less costly in time. Also, the cost benefit analysis varies depending on if you're a high level racer competing for top 20 in class or above, or a more casual player only going for 3-5 points. The latter group generally has a few minutes left at the end when it's clear they're not going to get enough XP to reach another point tier; for them spending a minute to reduce your chance of dying on the way has no real cost.
Did you ever see history portrayed as an old man with a wise brow and pulseless heart, weighing all things in the balance of reason?
Is not rather the genius of history like an eternal, imploring maiden, full of fire, with a burning heart and flaming soul, humanly warm and humanly beautiful?
