Known Issues & Common Technical Problems
Hi. My friends speak highly of Path of Exile and suggested I try it recently; given how much I played Diablo 2 in the past I was very interested in Path of Exile's unique skill gem/"skill landscape" layout. Every character class being able to use every skill appealed to me. So I wanted to give Path of Exile a try - unfortunately it seems Path of Exile doesn't want to give me a try. Here's my problem:
The Patcher stops with an error at a random point This happened my first time trying to patch the game (I've never played before.) and I know my firewall isn't the source of the problem. I tried repatching the game at a later point in the night, hoping it would run smoothly through the night while I slept. I got this error when I woke up: The patcher says “Could not overwrite executable with new patched executable or "Timed out waiting for patching process to exit" Following the technical problem's guide, I went to the Path of Exile folder to look for a file called Client.tmp. I do not have one. At all. I considered the fact I had a pack corruption here, since it seems common in the technical problems. So I started up the installer again, removed Path of Exile from my computer, and then downloaded the installer again and re-installed the game. I still do not have a Client.tmp file. Is my only option to play Path of Exile (or even load the game, since I can't play if the patcher refuses to work) lie in using a VPN? Edit: I forgot to mention that my Path of Exile folder does not have a PackCheck.exe file either. So both of the possible fixes to solving my problem are completely absent. Do PackCheck.exe and Client.tmp come standard with the basic Installer.exe's files it automatically loads? Or are these files added later on during the patching process? Edit: I never found a solution to the above missing files, but I kept trying to patch. I figured maybe stubbornness would win out in the end - my third attempt got me around 50% before I got an error saying the page 404'd, and my forth attempt I finally patched the entire game without error. I'm running the game smoothly without problems now. Bring back race seasons. Last edited by AbdulAlhazred#4759 on Mar 10, 2013, 3:51:06 PM

Hej,
I play PoE since a week, better, I play when the game lets me too. At first I were able to start for one or two times, after that the game crashed instantly when I started the client and clicked any button like "Options", "Login" or whatever. Afterwards I searched for some failure-descriptions here and how to fix them whereas I found the thing with the US/UK-keyboard-layout (I'm from Germany). I changed it and it worked perfectly after that. But everytime I want to start the client after I shut down the pc, closed the game or whatever, it doesn't work anymore again. Usually it worked after I deleted the German keyboard-layout + using the Packcheck.exe (all files are in sync it says). But now it doesn't work anymore at all, no matter what I'm trying. Seriously, I really like your game and highly appreciate it that you make it possible to play it for free, but it just completely sucks that you're not able to play it after at least one hour of stuff you have to do before to make it run, until it finally decides not to start anymore. Could anyone help me out here? My system is Win XP, I don't think, other stuff is needed to read (PC fulfills the system requirements more than necessary, the gameplay is fluent, except for the extreme fps-spikes sometimes). |

I am experiencing a problem, where the client gets stuck on the connecting part...
Here is a link to my post: http://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/234050 I will update the post until a solution does arise or I become to fed up and just reinstall the game. I have a found the solution and have posted this solution on the post (at the bottom). Last edited by Sicomatic#0737 on Mar 11, 2013, 3:30:26 AM

For all who are getting the patching error with "Timeout was reached ...." GGG must be aware by now that there is a problem with their software, but they are refusing to admit it and own to it and fix it. It is much easier to blame it on our ISP.

guess, After cleaning the old video card drivers out, and re-installing the right drivers for the current card everything worked just fine, all graphical errors are currently working properly. Updated my xfx radeon 6750 with the new beta 13.2 driver set. seems stable so far. Last edited by xxjohndeerexx#4909 on Mar 9, 2013, 10:30:08 AM

Can you please e-mail the unlock code, ironically this time I really am in a different location, but I still need it.

Lately I often get disconnected with the message "account is not owner of the instance".
Those disconnects nearly always appear when I use a way point or portal or when I die => when I enter a town area like Sarn. Very rarely it also happened the other way around. Those disconnects happen quite often (ca. every 30min.). Also since a week I have quite long loading times before the log screen appears or when entering a instances. Sometimes the game also freezes during those loading times, so I have to end the game with the task manager. Could it have something to do with the fact that someone tried to hack my account (didn't succeed due to the location check via email)? I suppose that because the troubles started after this hacking attempt, resp. after I had entered the location security code that was sent to my email account. PS: My PoE PW is unique, I doesnt use it for anything else. As far as I can see my email hasn't been compromised and the attack failed (no Orbs or items were stolen). EDIT 10.03: Since yesterday less disconnects (about 1 in 2h) and the loading time also approved. Hi, I am playing 800x600 on an Intel Core2Duo 1.86Ghz laptop using 4GB of memory RAM and Intel HD3000 graphics and the game is way too slow. Its ok in grotto maps, for example, where I get 20-30 fps, depending in the amount of monsters on screen and the amount of mods there are. However, 85% of the game, as well as multiplayer, is way too slow on this config (0-5fps). I have noticed that mainly the fx effects are causing the highest computing load. Could you please allow an option that fx effects, such as the one with ligtning arrow etc., are disabled, or eg. simplified, so that this game was playable on low end machines like mine?? It would be awesome.
Also, I have a suggestion for the devs. Put a "IDENTIFY ITEMS" or "IDENTIFY ALL" or something similar kind of button in each NPC screen when selling items. Particularly, put it in the middle, underneath the second rectangular field where items are put to be sold to the NPC. That would be awesome too as it would help ease the pain of people identifying numbers of gear at once when selling the gear from maps to NPCs etc. |
