Difference between projectile damage and physical damage nodes?
Also, Why would you pick 10% elemental damage nodes over 8% physical damage nodes for a lightning arrow build? Because on the wiki it says that the 10% only affects the part of lightning arrow (50%) that is lightning type, thereby making it only adding 5% damage which is lower than the 8% physical damage nodes which affect the entire spell

bump...
I'm also wondering how physical damage and projectile damage affect eachother? |

I pretty much got the same question.

Well, beyond the obvious( projectile is added for projectiles, physical for physical ), there is no difference. If the attack is both a projectile and physical, then they are simply added together. 5% added projectile damage and 6% added physical damage thus becomes +11% damage total.
As for why you'd pick a elemental damage node over a physical one in a elemental damage build, that's because you have to consider the whole picture. You'll be wearing rings and stuff, all of which presumably have +added lightning( for example) damage. The +%elemental damage will apply to that as well, while +%physical won't. " If it is a 10% elemental damage with weapons node (which most are..), then that won't work with anything else either.. ign KlearSpeed

" As was said, any added damage through other pieces of gear will get multiplied. You can get much more elemental damage stacked than physical damage. Just look at some higher end elemental weapons; having +200 combined elemental damage is realistic. It is also independent of attack speed, where usually a weapons physical damage is in line with its speed. This means you get more per % increase with elemental damage over physical because there's just way more flat elemental damage available that gets put out much faster. |

" The wording in this game is a bit confusing sometimes and it's undestandable that some things are not 100% clear for new player (or old ones either). What this "x% elemental damage with weapons" means, is that what every elemental damage you make with a weapon get's amplified. So if you're using weapon that only deals physical damage, but you use an aura or piece of gear that grants you elemental damage it gets amplified with this passive. Even though the weapon itself doesn't deal elemental damage, it will deal elemental damage after you equip gear or use aura that grants that. The words "with weapons" is there only to specify that it cannot be used with Spells. To decide what is best depends on the build. Obviously if you do godly amount of elemental damage, the elemental buff will be better for you. However, if most of your elemental damage comes form added conversion, like Added Fire Damage support gem that ADDS % of your physical damage as fire, getting more physical will also grants more fire damage. So it really depends on your build what is better to use - this is where the fun on theory crafting comes in :) for exmple: 1000 phys with added fire gem with 20% gives you 1200, 200 being fire. Getting 10% elemental buff, will amplify the fire part, giving you 1220. Getting 10% physical buff, will amplify the phsysical, giving you 1100 and then 220 fire, leaving you with 1320. In this case the physical node would be better, but you need to also count the points it take to get the node. If you need to spent say 5 points to get 20% physical and only 3 to get 30% elemental, it wont necessarily be worth it. Personally I really love this stuff, but I can understand if some hate it :) " ign: AlecVonBoldwin

I don't think the question was properly answered... Or did I miss it?
I was wondering the same thing. Does projectile damage increase multiply the elemental damage part as well? For example, if my weapon deals 10 physical damage, 10 fire damage. Would 10% increased projectile damage make it deal 22 damage total? Or would it only multiply the physical damage part? It's important because this would mean that projectile damage is a lot better than straight up elemental damage increase in many cases. |

" It would indeed result in 22 damage. Trouble is, projectile damage nodes are few and far between (right at the start of the ranger, shadow and duelist, and a few lesser nodes in the center). It's not efficient to make a build that picks them all up unless by chance you need other passives that are close by.
Draft out of sync.
