1.3 [Newbie Friendly] GROUNDSLAMMER BUILD

1. Life & Chaos Resistance
North to Purity of Flesh.
6 skill points
30 Int, 32% Life, 12% Chaos (with normal gear I still have -60%, rest capped)

2. Armour through Iron Reflexes
6 skill points
10 Str, 40 dex, IR
My charscreen show my about 482 evasion rating. But I'm not sure if all 482 will turn into armour? Is IR worth it?
I could also drop Precision here, as I don't need it for dex anymore.

3. Aura buff
I got a 5L Voidhome and thinking of dropping Bloog Magic keynode. If I do so to use Determination aura for more armour, perhaps Sovereignity in the northern tree might be the best for me?
4 skill points for 12% less mana reserved, 12% radius & 12% increased effect

4. Duelist Start
Either go to Acceleration or the life nodes first. I would go the way trough Executioner and Master of the Arena.

1. always a good choice.
2. I would not. Unless you run Grace, but I doubt you have the Dex for it.
3. Only if you got mana leech, pool and regen gear. Otherwise you will not sustain a 5L groundslam with voidhome attackspeed.
4. Executioner is a pretty shitty node. I'd rather enter through the armor stuff.

What about 5) grab berserking?
Afterwards Sentinel and Scion Life wheel are also attractive.

Which is tankier, this is Sword&Board?
What is tankier, carrying a shield or having no shield?
Guess you can answer this for yourself.

Hi men! This gide is awesome! I'm starting to play and i don't know much about skill tree. Ones of the gide are reset. Can you re do them? Please and thank you a lot!
In a discussion over on Reddit, someone suggested that the tree in the original post is not so good (which I agree) and suggested this instead (from another build):

I'd like to ask you guize's opinions on this. My own opinion is that the above is better than the OP, but the ones we've been tossing recently are even better.

Obviously the tree in this guide is not optimzed. But that was never the intention.
It's a tree for noobs with no gear, overloaded with tons of resists.

Agree, it is a good build/guide to get a footstep into this game. After hitting the wall with my first char this one worked greatly for me mostly with selfound items. It is a simple/good build for leveling and brings some potential to see higher areas.

I agree, but please comment on the last part of my post (where I compare the reddit suggestion with recent trees that we have been discussing, which include Accelleration, skipping the Scion life wheel, etc).

Well im playing this game for 2 weeks now, so im not feeling qualified to compare builds. But i think there can be some stronger variants for this or that situation or maybe overall. Actually i play a variant with a mix of the original build and a variant which was posted here before, where i feel comfortable for leveling with.

Would glady see if someone is doing the math for a more detailed compare between variants.

The tree you linked here is awful for a multitude of reasons.
-It's optmizing for lvl 95. Not going to happen
-Going through Born to fight is a waste of pts
-Tree has no BM, so probably assumes mana.. yet takes attack speed nodes. You'll go out of mana and become a sitting duck. Even if you use BM gem, plain phys dmg is still better.
-No US? For a 2H melee? Death sentence.
-Almost no armor nodes and no IR (grace) means you're gonna top out at ~5k armor.. which while not a death sentence, makes it a game of yoyo with your health bar.. it will also probably cause limited problems with reflect.
