1.3 [Newbie Friendly] GROUNDSLAMMER BUILD

I know more armor is better but what armor level range should we aspire to reach?

I dropped blood magic and when running grace and determination auras my standing armor is north of 11k. What I want to consider is dropping the nodes to iron reflexes and grabbing inner force for aura enhancement. The problem is I am using a carcass jack and a few other armor/evasion pieces so I fear my armor would take a serious hit without it. On the other hand with a carcass jack and marohi I can keep most critters out of harms way as the reach is INSANE. Thoughts?

I wouldn't drop IR especially since you say you have lots of EV gear, the 4 or 5 points you'll save isn't worth it for losing 3k+ armor.

I too dropped BM and am running Grace, Purity, and Hatred. I highly recommend running those 3 if you can, I don't think Determination is necessary at all since you'll have more than enough phyiscal reduction with Grace + Endurance Charges. Purity on the other hand gives you +4% to max resists at max level and Hatred gives you a very significant damage boost.
Thanks for the reply, I usually run 4 auras: purity, hatred and grace are staples and then ill either run determination or haste. When I run determination, pop a granite flask and one of my haste flasks with + 94% armor I can hit just shy of 30,000 armor 😃. Since the flasks recharge so fast with warlords mark that's what got me thinking about dropping IR. thanks again
I wouldn't drop IR for nerfed Inner Force, which after 0.11 simply does not worth it.
What armor? Ideally to keep 62% damage reduction without endurance charges

Did you take a look at those "new/improved" Axe-Nodes?

I actually don't really know, whats better. But those improved Axe-nodes (Axes were improved more than Swords and Maces acc. to Patchnotes) look pretty decent.

For example:

The "Limb Hewer" Treenodes: 62% incr. Physical +2 Ias.

The "Splitting Strike" Treenodes: 48% incr. Physical +2 Ias.

The "Cleaving" Treenodes: 54% incr. Physical + 2 Ias.

->

In my opinion those Nodes (now) look definitively superior than those Mace Nodes.

BUT: I guess you need some Passive Nodes more - to get those nodes. Especially for "Limb Hewer", cause its pretty far in the "north".

BUT: If you go in the endgame (Char 80+ to 90) anyways towards "Weight Lifting" and "Divine Toughness" its perhaps no bad idea?

The only thing that speaks for Maces in the endgame is the Marohi Erqi, i guess. There is simply no other Weapon that fits the Ground Slammer build that good. (At least no Unique Axe).

Whats your opinion on that?

Repeated: (i'm only talking about the endgame)

What skill would you use with an axe since you can't use ground slam?
Axe SPLITTING STRIKES: 48% for 3 nodes (+1 to achieve it) --> 16% per node
while
Mace BONE SMASHER: 40% for 2 nodes --> 20% per node
Result: Mace's Bone Smasher is better

----------------------------------

Axe LIMB HEWER: 62% for nodes (+6 to achive it) --> 15.5% per node
while
Mace SKULL CRACKING: 48% for 3 nodes --> 16% per node
Result: Mace's Skull Cracking is better

----------------------------------

Axe CLEAVING: 72% for 6 nodes --> 12% per node
while
Mace SMASHING BLOWS: 42% for 3 nodes --> 14% per node
Result: Mace's Smashing Blows is better

----------------------------------

Axe GLOBALLY: 182% for 13 nodes (+7 to achive it) --> 14% per node
while
Mace GLOBALLY: 130% for 8 nodes --> 16.3% per node
Result: Maces' passives are globally better

----------------------------------

Secondary notes:
Axes requires 7 additonal nodes or different skilltree
Maces to achive 182% with 13 nodes requires nodes with just 10.4% each

----------------------------------

Mace wins! Mahori Erqi is just icing, really. Guide is for those, who won't get that mace (because those who actually can, don't need guide)

What is even more important:
YOU CAN'T USE GROUNDSLAM WITH AXES!!!

Thx for the description, sounds logical.

I totally didn't get, that you can use Ground Slam only with Maces and Staffs.

Well, yeah. :)
Thx for very good and very explanating guide. As newbie in this game i understood it. Now i'll start play as Smash Marauder:)
And how would you go about increasing attack speed? Because i'm making leap slammer based on this build, and i'm not quite sure how to go about it.. basicly to get to every speed nodes i need to get through some extra accuracy and/or damage.
Following this build and currently lvl 64 on anarchy. I have not taken any endurance charge nodes, haven't worried about curses/charges, and ran zero auras so far. Awesome build, and really digging the 2 hand smash gameplay.

It's is my first melee toon ever, and first character over 50 and into merci ever. Thanks for starting this thread and thanks for others input as well. Sitting at 5k dps heavy strikes and 2.6k dps ground slams. Gonna start running auras and using endurance charges, to up dps and survivability so I can start running maps and getting the real phatty lewts!
