[1.0.4] Hack's RF/Discharge Hybrid A.K.A Burnbarian.
I've gotten a few request to explain this build so here it goes. This will not be a guide for RF or Discharger. There are plenty of threads that already have this information on each of these things. Summary: This is a hybrid build that can switch between RF and Discharger by taking advantage of the core passives of the RF build, the proximity to Endurance Charges, the reflect mitigation from Purity of Fire, and the overall high life/strength synergy. This allows the build to Discharge/Ignite maps with mods that RF cannot function in. Passive Tree: (Currently 87 /w LVL 20 Purity of Fire & Vitality) *Note: Without level 20 Purity of Fire the 26% Increased Aura effect will not be enough to add +1 max fire resist. In order to cover the entire burn degen one will have to spend 4 nodes to get the extra 8% Increased Aura Effect near the Iron Grip Keystone, use +gem gear to increase PoF's level, or use something like Blood Dance boots. Bandit Rewards: Normal - Help Oak/+40 Life Cruel - Kill Bandits/+Skill point Merciless - Help Oak/+1 Endurance Charge Current Gear:

RF Setup
Discharger Alt Setup Remove Redbeaks and shuffle the gems to have the following: - Discharge + Iron Will + Fire Pen + Chance to Ignite + Ele Prolif in 5L Searing Touch. - Enduring Cry + Flammability + BM + Reduced Mana or Increased AoE. - Replace the low level Enduring Cry linked to CWDT with Rejuv or Devour Totem. - Leveled CWDT and LL moved to unused weapon/shield. - Replace one Ruby Flask with Hybrid Flask and swap Life flask for something other than dousing. - Drop Vitality aura to leave mana for casting Discharge Pros: The build is not limited by any particular map mod and has an extremely diminished risk factor against Ele. reflect. Only -Max + Ele reflect presents any real danger when discharging. At 7K HP and 750-800+ strength the high life/strength creates a great synergy between boosting RF and Discharge damage while also making the build very tanky especially with 7 Endurance Charges. Perhaps the biggest boost to survivability comes from having a high level CWDT linked to Discharge+Iron Will+LL while running RF and having 90-95% max fire resist. Unlike when using Molten Shell this will cover the entire screen, leech massive amounts of life right away whenever things get shady, and has effectively no risk of dying to reflect. Finally, the synergy with builds that do lightning damage and shock stack is just insane because of EE. Cons: Totems are your archenemy. You'll have no true listed DPS forcing you to do maths to figure it out. You'll be the only one in the group who hates 75% fire resist mods on maps. Having decent single target when running as Discharger will require another 5L Searing Touch to swap to for igniting with Flameblast, Fireball, or Fire Trap. Cold based builds will hate you. Finally, this build does require Astramentis to cover the massive lack of dexterity. FAQ: (I'll update as more questions come.) Q: You don't use conc. effect with RF? A: No, the reduced radius for more damage is counter productive because too much time is spent moving/chasing to get mobs into aura range. Q: Why not bypass the Duelist start and get the regen/degen nodes and IR to the east? A: While I would love to have IR and run Grace I'd lose 14% increase life and 100 strength using the same amount of points, which negates most of the benefit of picking up the regen/degen nodes. This would also make running Discharge notably weaker. |
