I've been a member of GM through it's DDO branch for over 3 years now, infact it was drakkos who recruited me when he was the DDO realm leader. I've since grown into being an officer (have been for about 2 years now) in this fine guild and it is a pleasure to give something back to a community that has given me so much. Your website needs a lot of work and the coding is a bit sloppy. This is coming from a designers point of view, I'd be willing to help your guild out. Just drop a PM in my inbox.
As for your forums, I recommend switching to a more mainstream open source software such as phpBB3, SMF, or MyBB. If you're looking to be more professional then I highly recommend XenForo or IPB. It seems like a great community, I'll be signing up later tonight. |

It does not mean anything other than you said words others might find offensive for their children, or themselves. I wouldn't call them "Bible Thumpers" but selective in the people they wish to bring into their fold, those who know how to speak without causing such issues for a family friendly environment. Not everyone likes the use of such things, nor is everyone's parenting style your own, some might not want to have their children exposed to profanity, while it would be impossible to do it completely, providing a guild like this where the parent can relax and know their children aren't going to encounter such a thing is needed, and I must also point out that joining the guild is voluntary, and they are very upfront about their rules and policies before they agree to take you on. If you find it so displeasing then clearly it isn't for you, while i am sad to see such a reaction, it is understandable as i am sure you find it laughable someone would want an environment where the talkings of a dirty mouth sailor are frowned upon, your point of view is your own and i respect that, so please respect other's point of views as well, even if they differ from your own. " Some people don't have headphones, they could have a speaker / mic setup, not to mention the children themselves might be on playing, or the headphones could be up loud enough for others to hear, it also doesn't have to be limited to just speaking verbally, typing in chat is also covered and everyone can read that, let us not forget some people don't like the language to begin with. I really don't care for it, its vulgar and not needed to adequately speak. It can create a certain negative atmosphere as well. Things are not as simple as "They are just words, get over it". I feel it is better to create an atmosphere that doesn't have the need for such words, to me it enhances my game-play experiences with the guild. However this is of course my opinion and it can differ from yours, regardless whether you approve or not, or still can't see why the rules are in place you do not need to apply if it's not your cup of tea :) |
