Zealot's Oath question

Added a new Keystone Passive - Zealot's Oath: Life regeneration applies to energy shield instead of life.

Does that mean by having this passive and using a life flask my ES will be restored instead of life?

Please tell me why? If there is no mistakes on how the passive is written, it should work.

Life flasks directly add to your life regen.

Life flasks are RECOVERY, not REGEN.

Please go ingame, go take some hits, open your "Defence" statistic on your char panel and drink a life flask.

Directly adds to life regen.
This has just blown my mind.

Life Recovery manifests itself as regeneration, but is considered a different mechanic. Note the difference between the two map mods that effect regeneration and recovery. ZO does not grant life leech to ES either, by the way, which also manifests as regeneration.

As for why life flasks, which grant regeneration, don't effect ES regeneration, you'll have to ask Mark or Qarl, who designed and implemented this Keystone, I imagine. I cannot tell you why it works as it does, only that it does.

I do not give the keystone my seal of approval and have continued to suggest to GGG that it be reconsidered. It isn't ready for 0.10.0 and is pretty worthless in its current state. That's just my opinion of course, but be it for hybrid es/life or CI builds, I see absolutely no reason to take or use this keystone yet.

-You cannot as of yet accumulate a significant amount of flat life regen on items (even with uniques and the buffed mods). This basically means you need to use % life regen passive skills / items. And since % regen effects your % es with this new keystone, and because CI no longer grants more ES, you cannot get more ES than life, using Zealot's Oath is actually reducing the regeernation you get from such items and passive skills.
-You cannot easily get % regen from the passive tree and get this keystone and get significant increases to your ES. You need to stretch your points thin to maximize the effect of this keystone, which simply translates all your hardwork to ES instead of life. Life is more valuable than ES currently.
-The stun resistance afforded by ES is not worth it when you consider Unwavering Stance provides stun immunity at a relatively trivial cost to people already heavily investing in % regeneration.

The only build I can even conceive of functioning with this keystone is Righteous Fire builds, using a very low max life pool with chaos resistance, accumulating tons of regeneration passives to apply to your larger ES pool to cancel out the self-damage. No other build has any relevance by my estimation.

I hope it can become more relevant and impactful in the future.

E: What we need is, an official reply concerming this unless someone have tested it out on alpha recently. And even then, it might change.

I understand the difficulties that those builds have to go by (getting life regen, really cant get that much if you already are focused on ES + ZO), but probably this is just a missleadily written description that will get changed. Atleast I hope so, because should life flasks increase ES regen, this node would be really, really powerfull. Chaos immunity, with the cost of no life but you are still able to use life flasks, now to get ES.
