Unfortunately your survivability with Oro's Sacrifice is always going to suck unless you use something like Kaom's Heart (which is WAY out of the price range of most players) or Arctic Armour... But I've never seen anyone do an Oro's Arctic Armour build, possibly because the cost in passive points to sustain Arctic Armour negates the damage potential of the sword. Devoto's Devotion (which pairs nicely with Windscream) plus a high-defense chest might work too, at least when at a distance using Spectral Throw, but again the price is prohibitive. The decrease in survivbility is a huge problem with Oro's, and most players can't counter it enough to effectively tackle maps.

While I'm a fan of this build's concept, in practice Leap Slam is a lackluster main skill, at least when you have low attack speed. I realize most of the damage comes from burning, but, in my experience, burning damage doesn't compete with instant elemental damage. For melee builds, I prefer to go Cyclone and pure fire damage. If only Multistrike didn't make for unbearable desync! Dps skyrockets with that gem, but it makes Cyclone, an already unstable (but manageable) skill, completely unusable. Cyclone + Blood Magic + Life Leech + Weapon Elemental Damage + Fire Penetration + Faster Attacks/Concentrated Effect is the way to go.

Hey there Oro, just wanted to say a huge thanks for the sword and also this build outline.

Wanting to try an avatar of fire ground slam version of the sword later on in invasion league. Not sure how effective it will be, really have to wait on that passive tree change, also ele reflect could be a bit scarey, but just had to say thanks for the weapon. Great addition to PoE :)

Would you mind updating the passive tree for the build?
@Bonefide
@TUYOSHI
Even with the elemental buff it appears to by near impossible to get good damage, this is probably the biggest downfall to the weapon.

With the change to the passive tree we also end up spending alot more points than normal which makes it even harder to properly spec it.

Having to put a leech gem in kills the damage. Having to more than likely put in a Blood Magic gem also kills the damage.

Im going to post a video of my build sometime with my gear. Though i have to say i dont think that this build is viable, not even for piety or dom farming.

Getting enough points into survivability and damage are two problems, getting life recovery via leech is also a huge problem.

I dont see a build like this even working without 36% WED jewelry and belt with HP and resistances. I dont think you need a Kaoms or Hrimnors at all with this build but having them would definitely help alot with the damage.

This sword would be viable if GGG would fix elemental damage via melee and give a means of leech with elemental damage.
Harvest sucks! But look at my decked out gear two weeks in!

Its not a failed build at all, in fact its a brilliant unique that actually does something interesting with risk and reward, how uniques should be.

The sword isnt the problem, the problem is the fact that GGG hasnt modified any skill gems to give increased elemental damage and hasnt added in a reasonable means to gain elemental leech without being forced to use the leech gem.

tried this build with 5.5 hp and 50 phy dmg reduction and 77 fire resist and at level 75 cant even facetank a single voidbear. checke out all the oro sacrifice youtube video and they all almost died with that sword with shitty dmg even with arctic armour
I play a very similar build and it is completely viable. Mine is lvl 83 and can solo just about any map roll. I don't have a Kaoms and I don't run attic armor. Instead I run a dual curse setup with Enfeeble on CoDT. Works beautifully.

Concerning void bearers: they are probably the most dangerous enemy for this build. However, I can face tank the average ones with no issues . A multiple projectile pack is another thing though. Just don't face tank them. Searing touch + fire trap is good for more than just reflect and safely takes care of these. Great build all in all and fun to boot.
