Races - Alternative Playmodes - Headhunting
A lot of people have a lot of fun doing races.
Right now we have only leveling competitions, though they range from Party Hardcore, non Party Hardcore and a special Turbo one. I thought about a different objective than just grinding EXP. Headhunter Race In this race the objective is to kill unique mobs/Bosses in the game as fast as you can. Find them in the world and bring them down. Rules/Playmodes: >Hardcore / Solo or Party >Act1 Headhunting time 1h to 1,5h depending on testing. >Act2 Headhunting time 2,5 to 3 h same as with act1 depends >Act3 Headhunting - alternative rules for that below >Killing a mob the first will be mentioned in the global chat and will give you more rewards when the race ends >Doing quests, or being a high level will not be rewarded. Clearing all unique monsters in the race will stop your game and your time will be saved (so you can record with yourself) it also will be shown in global chat. >Records on first kills will be saved and will pop up in global chat when broken in a later race and may be visible on the website Alternative playstyle - Locked mode: You get locked when you reach a certain level and can't gain any exp as soon as you reach this level (like lvl 10-12 or higher/lower depends on the act) Alternative playstyle - Uber Uniques: Uniques are substential stronger than normal Alternative playstyle - Act3: Player will have the chance for a day or two to make a character in "hardcore preperation league". This league will become the race on a later date. How does it work? Everyone can roll a character in that league, play to act2 and won't level beyond 28 and as soon as beaten vaal and going to act 3 will not be able to play that character until the race. Player who did not beat Vaal and go to act3 can't participate in the race that will happen on a later date. When the race starts everyone starts at the start of act3 and the rules are the same as in act1 or act2 headhunting races. Find and kill unique mobs and bosses. The reason why this is this way is because a race likes this would take more than 4 or 5 hours. This way players can just focus on act3 during the race. Thoughts? Like the idea. It would be nice if attention of the objectives is put where melee and range meet in terms of balance (general opinion: melee or certain classes get a strong start and others or ranged got stronger end game).
I guess this is also the reason every class gets access to phase run. It could be more interesting than the current format though and definitely shifts focus from the ledge/ dark/ western forest farms. |

I like the idea of races that don't involve 'how long can you stay awake' :)
Headhunter races sound interesting :) I also like the idea of a time limit per day, for example, every account is allowed to race in the league for 2or 3 hours in every 24hour.. say a week race like that.. That way, it won't just be the no lifers that head up the tables (although they likely will as most practiced!) Some of us don't have the time to play all day every day, and are more casual, but still like the idea of racing! Anyway, your idea is good :) |
