Subtle Elements Support Gem

It always doing full damage is a downside, how? Ignoring the fact that it wouldn't gain bonuses from curses and other penetration, this allows you to attack any target without worrying about resistances and cursing. You can mathematically map out your character to where each target takes X hits to kill. This would be worse than a discharger.

This would make the game much worse than it is, and gameplay can get very boring very quickly for most builds.
Melee physical builds with a decent attack can attack any target without worrying about resistances and cursing. You can mathematically map out your character to where each target takes X hits to kill.

Copy and paste is fun stuff. I guess every decent melee physical build out there that always ignores 90%+ of damage is boring.

Melee and ranged builds have accuracy to worry about. If they do not take Resolute Technique, there is a chance of them doing no damage since they miss. If they take Resolute Technique, they give up any chance of scoring a critical strike. This forces melee and ranged builds to either grab accuracy or Resolute Technique.

In a way, you can mathematically map out such builds but you sacrifice a lot doing so. Subtle Elements would be a melee build with Resolute Technique still being able to score a critical strike. Very overpowered, especially since this would be for a spellcaster.

Melee builds also need to engage every target, meaning other melee attacks will always hit them. Ranged and caster builds rarely, if at all, get hit from melee attacks.

Ya know the subtle elements can apply to melee builds including avatar of fire. And this gem could remove critical hits, I wouldn't care all that much, I never build for crit, RT all the way.

Anyways I've said my peace. Going to heat up my dinner and then relax, maybe play my summoner or my spectral throw marauder or watch some TV.
I suppose if the spell always deals 100% damage no matter what, it means no crits, no passive "% increase" or "% more" damage boosts, ignores curses and shock stacks on enemies, etc.
Just the Base Damage of the Spell.
Sounds balanced to me.

Otherwise, just no.

No, this would require a huge damage reduction and it'd literally be either mandatory or useless depending on which side of being impossible to balance it falls on.

Mandatory with game as is... and spells still won't ever reach the dps that melee has. My melee character with 2 damage nodes 1.4k tool tip dps with no aura's on, my caster with 50% of the crit nodes on the board + 8 nodes totaling the same % increase as the 2 node my mara has 1.4k tool tip dps. Caster has to deal with 75% ele res... melee 1k armor.. melee does 1.4k damage and that armor does 5% redux. Ele pen + curse = 0% res if the mob is white. Curse immune = 40% damage reduction or if blue mob not immune 10%... gold 20%.... unique 30%. Not even counting the boosted res monsters that exist with 109% resistance.

The OP doesnt understand that 100% penetration is not in GGGs interest since they dont want us to be too overpowered, thats why monsters have res and curse immunity and even reflect. 100% damage at all times is OP as hell and no one ever would need the res penetration supports.

Physical from melee deals at the very least 80% (mob with 3 end charges) damage all the time and dealing near 100% of damage all the time is against GGG's interest since they don't want us to be too overpowered. It takes 1k+ damage to reach 95% of damage vs all no modded enemies in game and 2k vs the new armored mod.... I have 2k + on every melee build I've ever made with crap gear... My nephew with weapons that he found early cruel does 2k dps.... My lv 39 Facebreaker build does 2k dps... 95% vs 25% and for white mobs with ele res 95% vs 50% or the super rare end charge mobs 80% vs 25% or 80% vs 50%..

Think about what you type before you type it.

Subtle Elements: Elemental damage ignores enemy defense, always does 100% elemental damage with supported skill.

Other Support Gem idea
Total Focus

This would require a huge penalty to the spell as it acts as an absolute penetration. Some things such as:

1. Drastically increased cast time.

2. Huge multiplier to mana cost.

3. Reduction in damage as tradeoff.

The fact that you want to counteract it so that it will become another pointless skill gem and not ensure the its demise in the first place just proves the point that forum users don't actually play the game in the first place.
You're just like the convict abbo devs who keep "balancing" the game by making more shitty unbalanced additions and retarded nerfs to everything creating a layed back and broken experience for anyone who wishes to play a successor to diablo 1-2.
Why the suggestion board exists when 99% of the playerbase is scrubcore is beyond me.
