Lets talk micro transactions - What would you like to see in the cash shop?

I'm very interested in what they might offer in the cash shop. So I thought I'd spend some time going over some ideas and seeing how the community might react to them. Some of these ideas are of cause more realistic and others are more controversial and out there. I would be keen to keep this thread more about what's for sale rather than how they'd go about selling/pricing the items.


Small list of things that could be for sale:
Dyes - Change colour of in game items such as armor and maybe weapons Simple, has no effect on power and good overall.

Bonus exp - Increase exp gain for a set amount of period say 2-7days maybe a fortnight?
This could be considered 'buying power' but in the long run when everyone is max levels it shouldn't matter, just makes the game go that little bit faster. I could imagine people not liking this idea but I can also see it being quite popular and a good source of revenue. Not to mention that this could affect races and specific leagues, so if this was implemented it'd have to be limited and situational. To be honest I don't think this would be a good idea over all; I mean if people wanted faster exp they could try and find a private league where the exp rate is higher.

Respec - The ability to respec some points in your skill tree.
I know that GGG/community doesn't want it to be too easy to respec but there are some that will want to. So making it a cash shop item that respecs between 5-10 points would be something worth considering.

Reduced penalties for death - A way to reduce/remove the loss of exp from deaths for 7-14days.
This could be a good idea for those that are more careless, if you're good deaths won't matter and if you're bad and just need a helping hand this could be nice.

Gender change - Change the gender of your character.
Later down the line if you do decide to add male and female to each of the classes this could be a nice addition. Could cause some commotion but will die down and people would like it (with some haters of cause).

Name change - Change your character's name.
Self explanatory, why not have it.

Auras - Cosmetic auras that make your character look cool.
It'd be pretty sweet if I could get auras like the rare bosses, maybe I want to theme my witch to be lightning I could get some electricity swirling around me. Would be a cool addition without disrupting game play. This could be quite cool.

Pets - Pets that could hold items or just look pretty.
This one's a bit odd for an ARPG but I mean torchlight did it already. So it would be nice if you could have a pet that could either be used as a courier or if that's too imba then just have it for cosmetics. This has a lot of potentials for sales.

Character slots - More slots to make more characters.
I know you guys don't want to monetize this too much, but I mean 12 slots is plenty and if people need more they could pay for it?

More storage space - More pages in the stash.
This would be nice. I know a lot of people like to horde items weather it's a useful item or not and it'll make it easier than making characters for pack mules.

Forum avatars - Special avatars for the forums.
Another small thing you could sell that has no effect on the game but is still a nice status symbol.

Skill skins - Make skills look cooler.
As you guys have already said, it'll be pretty awesome to have your skills do cool things.

Weapon skins - Change whatever you're holding to look like something else.
Some people might complain about hidden power here (oh no I don't know what weapon he's really using) but really it's just a cosmetic change. Something like holding a giant lollipop or country flag. Would give 0 added effects to the weapon/power.

Hats - hats are cool...
Lol had to add it, after what it's done for Team Fortress 2 I thought I'd just put it down for good measure. Umm, could look cool but might break immersion.

Costumes/skins - something to make your marauder look different from his marauder.
I know there's armor but it'd be cool if I were able to get like a tux skin or maybe some tribal tattoos. Small things are nice.

Purchase private chat channel - Get your very own chat channel in any league.
This could be pretty cool if we could get some personal chat channels that you're an admin of in game.

Sound packs - Give different sounds/voices for each class.
This could be another nice feature where you could have a different voice for your witch or templar. Just another thing to make you more unique.

Collector's Edition - When the game is released you guys should have a collector's edition with exclusive items.
Give the hardcore fans something to sink their teeth into.

So what would you guys like to be sold in the cash shop?

Custom item names (maybe applied by a tag that you can sell to other people if you haven't used it)
Possibly an item like the Chaos Orb (I think) except it maximises the stats on the item instead of rerolling them
Disco ball - When you use this a disco ball comes down and there's disco stuff around you that other people can see. Infinite uses, 10 minute cooldown

I was thinking about the auras thing. Sounds extremely good!

The custom item names thing is pretty cool imo also the idea of non combat petss creeks me out what i sugest is The ability to either set up shop on your char or a way to put your items on the vendor for other ppl to buy also maybe you can sell a tastefull way to advertise a custom league in the default ones (like a town cried or something) another thing you could sell is forum space for guilds and such!

The forum space seems a bad idea, considering that nothing could stop us from creating a topic somewhere on the forums to talk with the guild.

i was thinking more of a subforum or a servise similar to guildlaunch serius guilds need more than one thread to discuss stuff and a minisite of sorts sows legitimacy to potential recruits let alone one asosiated with the game it self

I'd like to see a lot of Guild/Clan features but I'm not sure how much of it should be monetized.
