Hamsterbaby's [ 1.0.3 ] Dual Totem Critical / CI Storm Caller With Videos

I have trouble with totems dying quickly, I put a "chance to make monsters flee" with storm call and it helps but taking up a slot isn't so helpful when the best I have is a 4L, but anyone have any other strategies or tips to make it work.
Level up your spell totem. Early on the totems die pretty fast but as you level them they survive better. Also don't put them in the middle of the pack of monsters.
if it helps anyone for leveling, I started running conversion trap with multiple traps for leveling and it's been helpful.

run into a large group, traps go off instantly and give me enough time to drop totems and for them to start the cast ramp up. also for a few seconds give my zombies some "friends" to take a couple of hits and take aggro off totems.

I mostly played a Barbarian in Diablo 2 so naturally I started a Marauder as my first character in Path of Exile. After some 50 levels I decided it wasn't much fun, mostly because I kept dying to being out of sync. So as my second character I tried this build and find it both fun and effective. At level 83 I still haven't found any great gear and my skill gems are all without quality but I still do more damage than my two friends combined even though one of them also played tons of Diablo 2 so he knows what he is doing.

I run spell totem-storm call-faster casting-concentrated effect-lightning penetration at the moment. The two last skills boosted my dps very significantly compared to decreased duration and increased area of effect which I did not find to be essential.

The only real problem I have is puncture. I laugh at most orange monsters but tremble in fear if there is a white dog with puncture next to it. It's Always a Close call with Death whenever I get hit with that skill. No leech or regeneration there is only so much you can do (I do have a remove bleeding flask but it doesn't Always help). Part of the problem is my meager 4,3k mana shield I guess.

With recasting totems, raising new zombies, cursing and throwing fire traps I find I don't have much time over to use the ice spears to generate Power charges. Yes, my dps goes up about 400 on the tool tip with 7 charges but I'd rather throw my 3,5k fire traps than trying to keep the Power charge timer from running out and I find I usually can't do both effectively. So I'm considering skipping that which frees up a few skill Points and sockets that might be used for something else.

I'm only up to level 70 maps so far but things are going very well and soon my gems will start hitting level 20 and can be turned into 20% quality which should help. (So answering a previous question in the thread: no, you do not need quality gems to do well with this build.)

I believe reduced duration is better than using faster casting. Without faster casting I cast 3 per second and without 3.8 so not that big of a difference. Plus, the storm calls are not as delayed and falls down very fast. Increased AOE is very nice because you can damage a whole pack + mobs that are moving
use flame blast to lvl, or searing bond, while lvling ur Storm call gems its really the fastest way, just watch for ele ref u do full charge on FB on them rip gg remake
i'm wondering which is better crit chance or spell crit chance or global crit chance?
i know i will chose spell crit if possible but then why i have to take crit chance in passive?
still viable ? also is the bonus with Piscator's Vigil work with the totems ( inc ele dmg )
