It might be interresting to use these 10 days remaining before open beta to think about what other information could influence the research. I was thinking maybe the "Map contains two unique bosses" would be interresting to gather to correlate with +2 level map drops.


While the "2 boss" mod would have a small influence on exp it may have a material influence on map drops. Might want to add it as a mod column.

Might be interesting to keep track of currency spent on rolling the maps as well. Would be great to have currency drop data as well, but that's probably unrealistic to keep tabs on all the time :)

I made my own rough version of the data portion of google spreadsheet that's column compatible with yours so it can just be copy/pasted- the calculated columns are just blank. Did 5 maps last night with my Immortal Call/Molten Shell/Sweep templar but he's still a bit too low level to be efficient.

I'll be keeping track of currency spent on maps in my version anyway- from this you can tell what maps are magic/rare as well. I also have a separate sheet for grinding regular zones like Fellshrine and Western Forest with exp and clear speed.

* Maps with a death will have a red fill in the row data ("Deaths" > 0)

* Maps where a level up occurred will have orange fill in the row ("Level Gained" > 0)

* Change the fill color to green on rows you've added to the main data sheet

It's worthwhile to note, even maps with a death or a level up still have valid map drop data and could be used if you can filter them out in the exp data.

I'll PM you the link so you can add the data at your convenience.

We're up to 125 maps run so far. It's still a long way away to draw any conclusions but it's a fun fact to note that a total of 126 maps dropped in those 125 map runs.

I'll carry this project on once open beta hits and hopefully we'll be able to accumulate enough data then :)

ps: if there are Statistics students or PhD around, i could use some help on reminding me about some pertinent statistical tests that I could run to get data quality and linear regression quality information. I studied that stuff 10 years ago but I dont exactly remember what to use (stuff like Chi-squared tests come to my mind)

That group exp formula is complicated!

I'm kinda confused on how those exp bonuses and penalties interact.
There is a 50%/100%/.. bonus to base monster exp depending on how many people in the group
There is a 30% bonus simply for being in a party
There is the player group share % calculation
Then the safe range level difference penalty?

Could someone confirm me the following scenario:

A group of 6 kills a mob worth 100 exp.
Because its a group of 6, the mob's base xp gets a 5x50% base bonus, making it a 350 exp mob (100+5x50).
Then that exp gets splitted and lets assume, our player has a 20% group share.
He takes 70 exp ( his 20% share of the 350 )
He then gets a 30% bonus because he is in a party, upping the 70 to 91 exp
and afterwards whatever safe range level difference penalty is applied to those 91 exp?

I am kinda confused because I think I read there is a slight bonus to being grouped but that actually seems like reducing the exp gained a little bit, am I right?

Or does the "Monsters give +50% base XP for every party member after the first" also include the first player? For a party of 2/3/4/5/6 is it +50%/+100%/+150%/+200%/+250% or is it +100%/+150%/+200%/+250%/+300%. In the second case, there would actually be a benefit to exp in a party

The 0.9.13e patch notes seem to indicate that being in party or solo is irrelevant, you get the same exp regardless of how many are in the party. All that matters is the player's effective level difference.

Correct me if I'm wrong.

I guess they dropped the group bonuses and just kept the safe level range and the group share part. This will make my job easier. I'll just ignore party status I guess :)
