Aegis Aurora vs Elemental Reflect

I always thought either Physical and Elemental Reflect can be blocked. But what I noticed is, that I don't replenish ES with Aegis Aurora when attacking Reflect Mobs.

So can Reflect Damage be blocked and if yes, why doesn't Aegis replenish my ES on hits?

How about Lightning Thorns?

Thanks for your answers!

Does anybody know?

Depends if you're attacking with a spell or attack, if you attack with a spell you gotta have spell block in order to block reflected damage.
Wish the armchair developers would go back to developing armchairs.

I do attack with a sword and do also have spellblock, but it will still not replenish my ES.

Still noone with any more insight?

It's been stated that Tempest Shield does not proc on blocking reflected hits. I think Aegis most probably works from the same function, or object, or whatever it is they call it in the programming.

Could be, although I don't see why it should be that way.

Tempest Shield has the obvious reason that it might instakill you on Reflect Mobs, but what is the reason for Aegis Aurora?

So is this a bug or a feature?

Mark confirmed that Tempest does not trigger on reflect.

However I have personally made an Aegis Aurora build in the past and can confirm that it does in fact block reflected damage (and restore ES). However, please be aware that it only blocks reflected damage from attacks - spell reflected damage is not blocked unless you have "+x% block chance applied to spells".

Since I was pretty sure this is not the case, I went ahead and rolled either elemental reflect and physical reflect maps.

While both types can be blocked, neither does proc the 4% ES Recovery from Aegis Aurora.

I tested on single mobs that barely hit me and the result is, that I do take damage once in a while but never replenish ES in the other cases where I don't take damage (I can't miss, since I got resolute technique). The only explanation is: I do block, but Aegis Aurora does not proc.

So the question remains: Why is that so? Would be cool if I got a dev answer since noone seems to know a reason for that.

Edit: It's also quite easy to observe when playing normal on reflect maps with lots of melee maps. You'll be at zero ES for almost all of the map.

When Mark was talking about tempest shield not procing on reflect (even though you can block reflect) he also mentioned that you can't proc secondary effects that rely on block.

So, you do block the reflect, but just like if you had tempest the mobs wouldn't get damaged, similary, you don't proc the aegis secondary effect.
