Sure it is. Lightning Strike is a ranged skill. Did you have another skill in mind (eg Spectral Throw)?

Hi Petrov,

I've followed your build, which I find excellent, with slight modifications. But I do have some questions I need you to clarify for me.
I'm using 4L at the moment for LS, and I keep thinking about what you wrote in one of your earlier posts, that Faster Attacks gives more DPS over WED, and it is more mana efficient. However, I tested both, and with WED I have 17.2k DPS on LS with 70 mana cost/skill and 5.15 attacks/sec. With Faster Attacks I have 16k DPS with 53 mana cost/skill and 6.62 attacks/sec.
Both gems are level 18. Since I'm using multistrike, I get 2 free hits, so I consume mana only for 1.72 skill casts/sec (5.15/3), or 2.21 skill casts/sec in other case (6.62/3). That makes
120.4 mana/sec for combo with WED, and 117.13 mana/sec for combo with Faster Attacks. 3 mana/sec difference doesn't seem a lot for me, when DPS is over 1k greater. Just correct me if my calculus is wrong, or if I did not understood how this mechanics work.

Other than that, this build is excellent, I'm also using Double Strike, and my DPS on Double Strike with only 4L is 27.6k and the crappy dagger I got for only 5 chaos. With 3 auras (purity, hatred and clarity (lvl 5)) I have 684 mana left (full mana pool is: 1870). I'm lvl 81 at the moment, and I have 3116 HP (I did not take Vaal Pact yet), and I have 78 life/sec regeneration.

I hope I said faster attacks is less mana efficient, not more! So I totally agree with your conclusions.

You are correct, I overlooked that post, and you did say that WED is more efficient. Sorry about that.


Anyway, you've probably noticed, but there are some other things I would like to point out about my skills orientation (if not for you, then for other interesters in this build):

- GMP over LMP for LS - I like this better than LMP. You know that with LS + LMP, at mid, to end screen your projectiles get rared out, and you're missing a lot of monsters, with GMP and 7 projectiles not only that I cover more area, and every mob gets a hit, but closer mobs get 2-3 hits (because of those 7 projectiles). So I make sure that every distant mob get projectile dmg, and closer mobs get 200-300% more dmg (when they receive 2-3 projectiles at the same time). Very high mana consumation, but I'm @ 4L only at the moment :)
- Rejuvenation totem - My build still doesn't have Vaal Pact, but I did take http://pathofexile.gamepedia.com/Heart_of_Oak, and with Golem's Blood + Rejuv. Totem, I regenerate over 220 life/sec (which is pretty much the same as constantly drinking Sanctified Life Flask, which makes Vaal Pact even less desirable. I'm also having 2% life leech on my gloves, and with high attack speed such as mine (5.15 on LS, and 6.65 on double strike), I recover a lot of HP.
- Berek's Grip -
I didn't posted it in my previous post, but I am using it for tougher maps. Due to high speed + critical chance (with attack speed of 5.15 or 6.65 and critical chance of 38.2% I hit critical at 1.97 times/sec for LS and 2.54 times/sec for Double Strike), and with hatred + lightning strike being able to shock + freeze on critical I get constant life/mana leech of 5% (of ANY damage) which is great!
- Critical weakness - I find this MUCH better than elemental weakness, my DPS increases DRASTICALLY with increased critical chance. My Critical multiplier is 530%, and I'm sure I'll make more dmg with lightning damage even on lightning resisted monsters with them being submitted to higher critical chance. And if I take "always critical" shrine, my DPS gets up to 50k

- Whirling Blades - very very good way to get out of the fight if you believe it's too hard for you. I do like Lightning Warp, but it's very slow, and if you want to teleport somewhere far away, the casting time is even longer. Not to mention the case when you get interrupted while casting Lightning warp. I find lightning warp good only for crossing some obstacles, so I don't have to walk around.

Because of all these changes, I'm using only 1 Cast when Damage Taken, but I find it quite sufficient, I get 3.24 seconds of Immortal Call with 3 Endurance charges (3.24 seconds is enough to cast another Immortal Call at the end of this one if I'm still getting enough damage taken), my elemental resistance is capped, my leech is quite good (with berek's pass and my gloves), and with rejuv. totem so is my life regen.

"Shotgun" don't work on projectile attack. A target can take just 1 projectile ;)

Are you sure about that?
It works with Spectral Throw. You can hit one target with several projectiles at one cast, and I'm sure about that 100%. ST is projectile attack (piercing one though), and so is my Lightning Strike (19% quality, 57% pierce chance). Why wouldn't one monster get more than 1 projectile if they are fired at high density? I'm pretty sure that I kill closer mobs much, much faster than the mobs far away (that gets only one projectile), and I don't have point blank, but it could be just an illusion.
