does crit chance for spells help this build?

Since the primary source of damage is Ethereal Knives, which is a spell, yes crit chance for spells is extremely helpful.

It depends if there is a sacrifice. Anything with extra damage is nice, but the source of the damage isn't from EK crits, its from EK itself. Since the build doesn't take a lot of % crit multipliers, the EK crits aren't a significant source of damage.

In order of importance:

Crit chance.............Spell Damage...Attack Speed...Spell Crit Chance

Its increased Physical Damage, its not specific.

Also, this unique seems to be a good choice for this build... Unless you have a 6L godly chest.

I wouldn't sacrifice it for a 6L in standard, although I would take a 5L version in a hardcore league.
It's a very nice option for survivability for this build. There are better choices for damage.
Hello buddies!

Any suggestions? for my current build? like improvements and what not?

Since the build goes near both the MoM and EB, has anyone tried to make the build more tankier with those two keynodes? One could also run high level Arctic Armour then and mana cost of skills would not be a problem anymore (could leave blood magic/mana leach away).

I'm also tempted to try out Ondar's Guile to get >50% dual wield block chance, and perhaps try to substituting one EK gem with faster projectiles, or even chain to mitigate phys reflect.

That Belly of The Beast unique looks nice, always adored the extra gore effect from shrines :D.

I have. I made a post about it a few pages back.
How is the dual dagger ungil gauche block build on page 55, compared to the shield build?

dual daggers block build has 75% block, and 50% spell block , and Mind over Matter

More DPS than the shield build?

Just as tanky?

Definitely not as tanky.
4L
CwDT(Lv1) - PC on Crit - Molten Shell(Lv7) - Ice Nova

3L
Whirling Blades - PC on Crit - Faster Attacks

On his recent update he uses these PC on crit - would it be worth grabing a quality version of this? and which would it be more effective on the ice nova? also because its a support gem you can leveling it up fully without having to worry about the CWDT not procing it correct?
I don't know if anyone is pursuing the 1h+shield version of this build for HC/Nemesis but I figured i'd post a warning for anyone wanting to try it in Nemesis.

If you run it in Nemesis, it is vitally important that you TURN OFF Tempest Shield if you run into rares with the Corrupting Blood affix.

The reflect damage of Tempest Shield (and maybe the all types of reflect damage, but definitely Tempest Shield) will cause you to get a near instant 20 stack of Corrupting Blood and RIP.
Wanted to provide an update on how my shield version is going based on Donald's Build.

Currently 66 and doing fairly well. It's a different playstyle then the cyclone dw version. I ended up taking Diamond Flesh and skipping on some of the block nodes until later. I also refuse to take stat point only nodes. This build ends up with less life, but more mana shield and the lack of life doesn't appear to be an issue pre-maps.

In short, its far more survivable as expected. Much tankier and safer for a hardcore league. Damage as a whole isn't that far off, but crit is way, way lower. With 3 auras and no real inherent regen in the build, there'a alot of nervous time waiting for mana. Mana regen items are an option, but with all the other stats you need, it can be difficult to find the right balance.

At my current crit, single target can be difficult with ST. I'll probably keep a Double Strike gem just to swap out for regen based uniques.

This build is a lot more expensive than the dw dagger version. On top of the three uniques, you really have to balance your other items for health, resistance, and stat points. That's something this build didn't catch my eye at first. There is a significant difference in stat points between the two versions. So much so that I found I needed to add Int and Str items that I would have otherwise passed on. This makes adding an extra unique armor (rats nest, Mags, etc..) nearly impossible. I'm going to work on trying to balance some unique jewelry, but it's going to require a significant investment in other items to make up for the loss.
This makes nodes like Primal Spirit appealing, but this build is so point intensive, you may not reach real maturity until the low 80s. More if you want additional health nodes.

For anyone interested, here's my passive

BloodThirst is next, then Ballistic Master, and then probably Deflection if I decide against Primal Spirit. From the Shadows will be in there as well. If not, PS first then BloodThirst. From there, I'll either pick up more shield nodes or health nodes around Written in Blood.

For anyone considering this version, it's fun and certainly viable, but be aware of both the expense and the time investment to make it fully work. If I was doing it over again, I probably would have stayed with 2H ST until 70/75 farming library/upper scepter then switched over to shield. I would recommend getting your items in place first before switching from a leveling spec. I absolutely would not recommend trying to build this spec up from lvl 1. Fortunately the ST 2 hand nodes are close enough you only need 10 respec points which all come from quests.

I'll probably provide another update in 10-15 lvls and give some map feedback.
