'This time' they dont have a period of (closed) beta test to find and eliminate final minor bugs, all polishing has to happen on alpha stage - so this will take more time than before... and IMHO this is also the reason they want to increase their pool of alpha testers soon.

I dont really expect OB as late as around new years eve, the more I think they'll try to have some time (at least, a week?) to react/interact with the impact of OB - before christmas.

Pretty much this is what I am thinking as well, we might not get another patch until OB starts as they have been pooling more people into Alpha to get the bugs worked out there and getting ready for OB, they have already done some hot fixes to the current Alpha build which is also a sign that they are quick at hand on getting on top of it so it can be released sooner than we all think....well cept for that guy that said Dec 1.

Again, in the OP, I was not looking for speculation as to when OB will be, but because I am one of the people who care about the characters I have made so far, I don't want to wake up one Monday and find them gone without my having known about it. But whatever, there are more important things in life.

Judging by how GGG has handled past major releases (new classes, etc), Open Beta will most likely be preceded by a significant marketing effort by GGG in the gaming press. At the very least, I think you'll have a week or two notice. Even if GGG doesn't give an official date until much later you'll know it's close when you see a bunch of articles, screenshots, cinematic trailer, coming out of the gaming press.

Perhaps, but im sure they wont do the big hype like swtor, d3 or gw2. Im sure we get the info about the release date at the same time (atleast almoste the same time) the gaming press gets it. We will know the ob date in at least 2 weeks and in 3-4 weeks ob is released i quess...

3. week of december is my bet.
