(Nov 14) One-week Turbo Hardcore Race
I have no idea how I'm still alive after yesterday, I got disconnected at least 5 times before even reaching hillock(!) and probably 50 times in total (my connection is basically chaos), who, when I finally reached, decided that he was actually Kraytin in disguise. Literally hundreds of, if not upwards of a thousand, desyncs.
Unfortunately it was impossible to say if desync was significantly worse than usual or not due to the state of my connection. |

I was thinking of playing this event but I dont really have time.
I died @ level 21, I was doing sins (just starting at level 1) when I realised I only had 13% lightning resist. I decided to do it later, but then even after deciding to do it later I ignored my decision & started playing with one hand because I wanted to get to the waypoint and then go have dinner (And then gear up at the shop before I continued). Well I found sins 3 really quickly so I thought I would just do it instead of bothering with the waypoint (continuing playing with 1 hand in a position where I could easily get up and walk away). Turns out this was a bad idea and my HP went down in a flash, so I went to have dinner. Not a good idea to play when you arent really in the mood =)

Desync has not been as bad as I usually experience so I don't think Turbo makes it worse. I am guaranteed bad desyncs in the Submerged Passages and with Brutus. Then random short-lived ones elsewhere. So far both Normal and Cruel Brutus have had only isolated desync episodes that were tolerable. Elsewhere occasional random, short-lived desync episodes have occurred . So far enjoying the challenge. It will be interesting to go back to non-turbo at weeks end., hopefully my currently limited skill playing this game will improve - will see in this weeks 2 hour events!

I cant speak for anyone else, but so far my personal experience has been LESS desync in this race than other events. Not sure what is causing that.
I did die once at level 24, however, it had nothing to do with bugs or computer issues. I just got owned by chaos spitters in Pyramids. |

Ive been having less rubberbanding, but obscene amounts of desync with enemy locations where ill miss attacks that very clearly hit.

Im glad that the guy whom I gave my items is 1st overall =)

I think a lot of the reason people desync is trying to run through content. I used to get a ton of this in 3 hour races as I tried to run through narrow places (submerged is really bad for this).
The desync is usually caused by trying to run through a mob blocking the path. It will work on your screen, but never works serverside and will almost always cause desync. Other easy to desync places include doorways (1 mob completely blocks a doorway, even if it looks like you are through), and corners (Mobs cant turn sharp corners and will almost always warp back. I've since gotten into the habit of just clearing through areas instead and I've noticed desync dramatically reduced. If its a narrow passageway and there are mobs around, you aren't likely to be able to run through it. For the devs - worst desync places Lower/Upper submerged - even with the walls being slightly more transparent its a royal pain to see the little crabs in the narrow hallways. Its very easy to get stuck and desync on these. Brutus - Brutus gets stuck on the walls often when you round corners to kite him. This is particularly deadly because he can do a lot of damage in 1 hit if he isn't where you see him. This seems to have been a change that has occured mostly after the brutus redo. I don't remember old brutus getting stuck near as often. Sins - this is probably due to most of us just running through it because necros + caster mobs + very high mob density is just retarded (on turbo its insane, you cant even detonate fast enough...). High mob density + lots of doorways = desyncs. Vaal Ruins/Ancient pyramid - pretty much the same as above. Lots of very small rooms and vases/rubble, ect which makes actually navigable paths narrow. Add in very fast, already hard to see/target snakes and descyns are going to happen. |

Race update:
InvalescoTurbo still holds the lead at level 63 and is now the first person to hit the currency cutoff. UnNamedBeast has moved past an offline iCarb into second position. Gearloose is back online after several hours off in 4th and SwimsuitareaIII rounds out the top 5 at level 53. 7th through 18th is tightly packed with only 2 levels separating the big bunch (level 46-48). Notable Deaths: ImbaWitch (Witch) died at 57 while running 4th :( Fightda (Templar) died at 42 while running 18th (thanks for the bow last night, if you need any help getting restarted this evening hit me up) BahamutBehemoth (marauder) died at 36 HisLeftNut (shadow) died at 36 BazzVtwo (templar) died at 35 Random Race Facts: There are 465 players still racing with Marauder the most played class at 22.8% of players. 836 players have died so far with witches leading the way, accounting for 22.25% of all deaths. Special thanks to both http://poestatistics.com/events/1-week-turbo-hc/1.html and http://www.templeofexiles.com/ladder-race/livegraph/9 for providing the data and graphs used to keep track of everything. Yours truely is stuck at work for the next 7 hours and has fallen to 48th at level 32. I finally finished normal last night and am at cruel ledge. Was hoping to stay in the top50 until I got home, but that is not happening. Boom, you know you want to restart! you still have time to get back above me before I make it home :P Last edited by Vondum#0370 on Nov 15, 2012, 12:43:44 PM
