[1.3]Fireball Witch guide for beginners
Who tried to vaal orb a fireball gem ? At which level ? Was it worth it ?
Can a corrupted gem still be trade to a vendor with a gcp ? Is a 20% quality fireball mandatory ? What about quality other gems ? |

" This is a guide for beginners so obviously beginners will not have access to a 20% quality gem... for a long time. I don't know the answer to your other question regarding vaal orbs. Last edited by kompaniet#2874 on Mar 23, 2014, 6:59:53 AM

" Haven't tried using a vaal orb on a gem yet. As it can give you additional qual/level my guess is to use it on max lvl/qual gems as you no longer can 20+ lvls on a (let's say) lvl 1 gem (at least that's how i understand the patch notes). You can't use orbs on a corrupted item. That means corrupted gem + gcp or corrupted gem + scouring doesn't work any longer (just tried the scouring recipe to make sure). Quality on a fireball isn't mandatory, though it is helpful to get an additional chance to ignite on top of your crit chance. Other nice quality mods on gems: Fire trap - 1.5% increased burning damage per qual percentage Elemental weakness - 0.5% increased resistance loss Fire penetration - 0.5% increased fire damage LMP/GMP/faster casting - 0.6% increased cast speed |

Planning on making the switch to CI soon. My build is pretty much as the guide suggests. Here's my planned gear.
Spoiler
In retrospect, I think I should've gone for a higher ES shield instead of spell damage, but I'll save my money for one that has both. Also should've been alch'ing sceptres :/. And I probably would have to roll with 1 mana flask. What gear should I be looking for moving forwards? |

A Rathpith Globe would be a nice addition to the rainbowstrides because of the spell block (has decent ES too).
With the introduction of the storm herald mod i would be taking one topaz flask along instead of one of those granites. But i guess a mana flask would be more convenient. |

Hi dtlol.
What a nice stuff ! Especially the wand... Did you buy or did you find it ? I have three questions : - how do you manage to get enough dexterity ? I don't see a lot +stats among your stuff ; - After having switched to CI, which gem will you use instead of LL ? - Do you use power charge ? If yes, what do you think about it ? I see the support gem that isn't linked... Thank you. Last edited by Funadept#1264 on May 22, 2014, 8:20:57 AM

" The wand was a lucky find. The rare ring was an alch. The flasks were painfully crafted. The rest were bought. As for the other questions... 1) If you follow the guide, you'll have at least 84 Dex. A amulet with a lot of dex as an implicit mod should be enough to support a high level LMP. I might need one more dex node or one more dex piece, but I won't worry about that for a while. 2) I have Ghost Reaver, so life leech will restore ES. 3) I had it equipped just to level it up. But now I have it linked to Fireball. It doesn't do much since Doom Cast is currently my only crit passive. But I found that I don't have enough mana regen to support Concentrated Effect with Fireball. So I'm using Power Charge on Crit for now. Maybe Chance to Ignite might be better in the mean time. " Ah, forgot about those. Thanks. Also, I tried a high level Clarity and it seemed to be work out better for me than my lvl 4 Clarity (along with less mana-intensive links). I could cast Fireball almost indefinitely. So no need for the mana flask right now. |

i think for a straight up fireball build,
the three dragons unique is great to use in this build, with static blows, some crit and ele prolif u can do a lot more dmg after spreading shock stacks to mobs. plus the unique is relatively cheap (only a few chaos now) (although i would say cold spear is better since it has inherently mroe crit at long range but need cold to fire gem) |
|
" Sure it is an option for an alternative build, though i think the shock stack mechanics are best used in an incinerate build due to the very high cast speed. |

" u are wrong about that item.if u go fireball with secondary flameblast three dragons is a MUST. the boost u get is imense. i like to troll dominus in partys with shock stacks on him from fireball.but if i flameblast him and crit which i usually do cause of the @45crit chance in 2 form he will stay shoked 4-5 seconds :). all asking who shoked dominus :O for so long.fireball crit will shok dominus for @1 sec but is still enough to get the 90%dmg :D and hit him again with my 0.44 sec cast fireball.and i play with gmp fireball. anyway to sum it up three dragons is a must for any fireball build.in my eyes too OP. so go get ur dragons u will not regret. btw i play ambush. |
