Timmy, Johnny and Spike in Wraeclast

Im Johnny
Johnny/Spike.

In magic, my style is as follows. Translates closely to PoE.
I love emergent combos. Card interaction is what I strive for in my decks.
I love to make decks that fall into grey areas in the rules. A deck that gets a judge called to my table at least once during the tournament was a success, whether I won or not.
I really like to win. After the experience is over, if I lost, I can look back and say I had fun. But during the losing match, I am not enjoying myself nearly as much as I do in retrospect.

In PoE, I tend to like skill/keystone interactions, and think of one I want to use, plan around it, and then look at what parts of a 'winning' build I can leech into my build.

Very much not a Vorthos. I generally have the camera zoomed as far out as possible in arpgs and mmos, I never use transmog or even really look at my gear. I could not tell you what color anything any of my characters has on without looking. The story for me is something I get outside the game, reading books or wikis. I just skip through it in-game.

Favorite MtG decks of mine, for magic aficionado's reference:

Dice Factory(Artifact deck, centered around generating charge counters on everything.)
Eminent Domain(Steal all their stuff and use it to kill them.)
Izzetron
Turbofog(Had a planeswalker that let me restart the game in there)
Copy Enchantment(not really a deck, but a card that let me abuse the rules system, by changing 'target' into 'choose', and get around hexproof)
Blink Riders(to this day, still my favorite deck, rebuilt several rotations later into:)
Fiend Flicker(abusing timing on the stack and come into play/leaves play effects to make an effect permanent that was supposed to be reversible)
I mixed up with all three. I like to play maps just to kill, and have some nice goodies drop from them. If I happen to get something really good or interesting item, I start formulating ideas for a new build or I upgrade my characters.
Sometimes you can take the game out of the garage but you can't take the garage out of the game.

Johnny, hands down. Always have been, always will be.
If I have two fish, and you have three fish, how many fish do we have?
None. These are MY fish.
I'm a Johnny, but I am envious of successful Spikes.
Bullshit, you get the game for free.

According to Richard Bartle, there are 4 kinds of players in a game such as this. (a multi user dungeon)

Killer, Explorer, Achiever, and Socialiser. (or to use the card suites analogy: Clubs, Spades, Diamonds, Hearts)

Explorers are the people who try to know everything about the game, and find all the interesting bugs and glitches.

Achievers are the ones who aim highest, and they gain enjoyment out of being the best.

Socialisers are the ones who trade and chat.

Killers are the ones who will gain most enjoyment from any game by ruining other peoples day (aka, bandits PK).

Now put this into a PoE context and figure out who you are :P

I go vary between an explorer to achiever in this game.

In dark souls on the other hand, I am very much a killer. Love SL1 ganking dem noobs.

To put this into your context:

Timmy is a mix between explorer and achiever

Johnny is an explorer (in terms of exploring mechanic combinations)

Spike is a full on achiever.

While you can't categorise everything, you can certainly categorise things that are within a specific context.

PoE's context is quite small, and so you can easily categorise players.
