I wish that people would stop using these abbreviation all together. I really hate it when someone writes a post where the crucial phrase in every sentence is a string of two or three letters that takes me forever to figure out, especially the ones for random skill gems. Is it really too much to ask to try to type out even a shortened version of the name? For example, instead of ES, write nrg shield, instead of DD, write det dead, instead of IC, write imm call. At least if you type out a part of the word, even if you misspell it, I will have a chance of figuring out what you are saying without having to look it up. And if you need to abbreviate because you are going to be mentioning the same thing multiple times, then at least write out the name in full the first time.

I agree somewhat. However, I would go further.

Just use the full words.

A guide is to help others understand something, not hide the meaning behind acronyms.
LA? Lightning Arrow? or am I mistaken?
STD = Single Target Damage, oh the irony
PC (item) = Price Check on said (item)
Would be nice to have a companion set of acronyms for things like:

ggg
cb
ob

I figured this out from context. But, I have seen other new players asking what that stuff means. Yeah, didn't hear about PoE until open beta.

ggg = Grinding Gears Games (da guys bring you this game).
cb = closed beta.
ob = open beta.

I'm sure there are many others used in chat. Maybe some more experienced folks could supplement the game acronyms list with a companion global chat acronym list.

And definitely thanks to OP (original poster) for this post. Much appreciated.
Believe it or not there are some folks so new to the forum they don't know what op is.
what does LA stand for?
