Update Log
12/8/2013: Updated skill tree, skill gems, my gear, my flasks and added a build summary. 11/13/2013: Changed from mace to axe to passives. Updated gear and skill tree. 11/3/2013: Removed Blood Magic Keystone from build
Pros & Cons
Pros -Decent amount of life -A lot of gems can be found from quests -No expensive uniques required -Easy to maintain in combat -Fairly high damage and survivability Cons -For this build to really shine, you will want a five-link for Spectral Throw -Not much room for Increased Item Rarity stacking
Build Summary
Skills -Double Strike for single target -Spectral Throw for AOE -Endurance charges for increased defense -Frenzy charges for increased attack speed -Leap Slam for mobility -Haste / Grace, Purity of Elements, and Hatred for increased attack speed, armor, resists and damage, respectively -Warlord's Mark, Vulnerability, and Enfeeble for additional Life Leech, increased damage, and decreased enemy damage, respectively.
Passive Web
Current: Level 83 *I'll be getting rid of Blood Drinker (2% Life Leech) when I can add Life Leech to Spectral Throw.
Skill Gems
(Obtain in this order) Six-link: Spectral Throw > Lesser Multiple Projectiles > Life Leech* > Blood Magic > Added Fire Damage > Weapon Elemental Damage or Life Leech, Faster Attacks, Increased Item Rarity Six-link: Double Strike > Melee Physical Damage > Multistrike > Blood Magic > Added Fire Damage > Weapon Elemental Damage or Life Leech, Faster Attacks, Increased Item Rarity Four-link: Leap Slam > Blood Magic > Enduring Cry > Blood Rage Four-link: Warlord's Mark** > Vulnerability > Enfeeble > Blood Magic Three-link: Grace or Haste*** > Hatred > Purity of Elements > Reduced Mana *Life on Hit is better than Life Leech in the early stages of the game. You will want to switch over in Cruel. **Since I don't have Life Leech attached to either Double Strike or Spectral Throw, I find that using Warlord's Mark from time to time helps a lot. ***Switch out Grace with Haste when doing maps that don't require a lot of Armor.
Leveling
Remember to ALWAYS put gems you plan on using in the future in spare sockets. Run through Normal with Heavy Strike and Ground Slam. If you're having trouble with Act 3, run docks 'til level 35. Do the same for Cruel. Run Fellshrine to 45, Docks 'til around 48, if you're having trouble. Cruel is about the time you want to switch Ground Slam with Spectral Throw. Make sure you have Lessser Multiple Projectiles, though, before switching. For Merciless, Ledge until 53. Fellshrine to 57, and docks to 61 (or until maps.) Do Lunaris or Library until your desired mapping level.
My Gear
What to Wear
Uniques that you may want to use Helms: Alpha's Howl, Devoto's Devotion Amulets: Carnage Heart, Astramentis, Eye of Chayula Weapons: Marohi Erqi, Reaper's Pursuit Rings: Andvarius, Death Rush, Le Heup of All, Ming's Heart Belts: The Magnate, Perandus Blazon, Headhunter, Meginord's Girdle Gloves: Aurseize Boots: Goldwyrm, Windscream As for rares, focus on Armor / Evasion, Life, and Resists (try to get a lot of chaos too) for defenses. Squeeze in some Attack speed, Life Leech, and Intelligence / Dexterity on your jewelry if you can. Don't forget that you can get Attack Speed from gloves. Try to go for an Increased Physical Damage belt too. As for the weapon, obviously go for the best possible physical damage and attack speed.
Flasks
Bandits
Normal: +40 Life (Oak) Cruel: +8% Attack Speed Merciless: +1 Maximum Frenzy Charge I'm going for attack speed because Kaom's Primacy only does one attack per second. If you have a weapon that does 1.3+ attacks per second, then I would suggest going for the extra skill point in Cruel, and an Endurance charge in Merciless.
FAQ
Q: Why are you using a 2H axe? Why not a mace, sword or staff? A: I decided to go 2H because the projectiles are bigger, thus hitting more enemies. I'm going axe because I want to use Kaom's Piracy. It offers quite a bit of damage and Culling Strike. Go mace if you want Stun Duration, sword for Accuracy, or staff if you want to stack Block. Q: Does Spectral Throw shotgun? A: It use to, but was changed pre-release. They buffed the damage to make up for it. Q: Does Point Blank work with Spectral throw? A: From what I've been hearing, no, not correctly. But it'll probably be fixed. Q: Greater or Lesser Multiple Projectiles. Which is better to use? A: It appears the community has unanimously decided that Lesser Multiple Projectiles is better, and I have to agree. Greater Multiple Projectiles reduces your damage a little too much. Q: How does Slower Projectiles work with Spectral Throw? A: The slower the projectile, the more it hits. Also, I believe the projectiles don't travel as far with Slower Projectiles. I'll probably choose Slower Projectiles over Faster Attacks if they ever fix Point Blank. Should make for an interesting combination. Q: What works with Spectral Throw? A: Melee Physical Damage, +Melee Weapon Range (Master of the Arena notable), or Cast Speed DO NOT work with Spectral Throw. Physical Damage, Physical Damage with Weapons, Projectile Damage, Projectile Speed and Attack Speed all work with Spectral Throw. Last edited by Seelow#0701 on Dec 8, 2013, 2:43:57 PM

I plan on doing something similar but plan to use staves for the block chance nodes. Do the increased physical damage nodes with staves and 2 handers work with spectral throw?
|
|
Yup, they do.

this is a good build for spectral throw, however its too vulnerable against elemental attacks :(

is that skill tree done? why you get unwavering stance but not IR?
I think endurance charge duration is waste of points when all you need to do is hit the skill button or add endurance charge on hit. seems a lot of wasted points to go get purity of flesh and holy strength, for like 20% health and minor buffs when right above beserk you got a whole node circle of health and path of the warrior. sorry I just don't get it maybe the skill tree not showing evrything |
|
I don't plan on using Evasion gear, so there's no point in spending the points to IR.
Yeah, a lot of people say it's a waste to get duration nodes, but I like to have charges up 100% of the time, and it definitely helps with that. I would use Cast on Melee Kill, but I don't think a ST kill would count as a melee kill. Yeah, I'm still thinking about whether or not I should get rid of HS and POF. It's obviously better to head for the nodes above Berserking, but I just really like the Chaos Resist. 12% may not be that much, but it should help when I run Blood Rage. I think you should spend 2 points in the duelist tree for Leather and Steel.

i'm using a build very similar, no blood rage or blood magic tho. i'm using heavy strike for single target works amazing,my skill tree is setup almost exactly as yours but i use a axe instead of mace.good shit

Would Life on Hit return as much as Life Leech? Since you will be hitting a lot of things a lot of times. If it does then you can disregard reflect damage.
