That's what I'm doing, I probably wont take Blood Magic until the middle of Cruel.
I basically went Shaper (health regen makes normal super easy), IG, RT, Mana Flows (dropped the 40% regen next to scion base), Harrier, grabbing int as I went. I sidelined for Path of the Warrior, Blood Drinker, and health nodes as I felt it was appropriate. At 55 I now have Reaver and am finishing off Golem's Blood/Diamond Flesh before starting on all the axe-only nodes. I'm in softcore and haven't died once despite not really trying or unreasonably prioritizing health.
I've currently build to Iron Grip and a couple of Axe nodes. Do you think I should go for Scion 40% mana reg > Shaper > Mana Flows and then start building towards Resolute Techniques (and picking up Blood Drinker along the way for good measure), or should I go for Resolute Technique first and then do the above?

I've got a very similar build, I would arguably say HC viable.
I'm running it on Nemisis atm, with few damage mods.

It's more focused to a tanky character, and end game will spec into marauder tree.

90 point build

104 point end game

I could probably do without Leather and steal / Iron reflexes, if I find really good gear.
Iron reflexes gives me a slight boost to armor.
I could also remove the top 5 nodes, depending how I feel without them.
If I remove these, I gain 12 additional nodes to spend where I want.

You are a little less gear depending this way, capping out resistances is always good.
You have to find a good weapon that deals 100-200 base damage, or more.
Recommended attack speed of 1.2 from base item.

You don't have to do axes. Build is flexible.
I used swords for a long time until I found a 200-300 damage axe.

Lots of life for BM in HC.

Main atk will be ST+LMP+LoH+ele dmg.

Plenty of leftover points to boost damage to a specific weapon type or hit some other key nodes, this is just a base layout and im still tinkering.

I wanted to get catalyze area in but its a lot of pts out of the way.

if you can't afford a 5L yet isn't it better to go for weapon elemental damage over added fire? i tried both gems and WED gave my spectral more dmg
I am interested in what gems you use for weapon elemental dmg.

atm i am running Spectral Throw - LMP - Faster Projectiler - Added Fire DMG

So what are potential 5 or 6 link gems and are my choices ok?
Lol I just looted Tabula Rasa Simple Robes, I guess the six linked Spectral Throw is gonna come easy to me :D
