Nice race but i do believe the prizes should become more appealing. Racing three hours to get simple orbs of transmutation does not feel right.

" What I normally do is farm maps good to farm and rush through every map that isn't. This time I was just playing through maps a little more that I usually wouldn't.. which is what I assume most other witches do. The things slowing you down are probably little things like.. standing still to equip items, not knowing how many spell hits are needed to kill, not going after big enough groups to kill at once. All those little seconds add up over time.. I remember you made a topic about racing and you play a lot different than I do.. I replied in that topic with some of the things I do differently. Did you make it to cruel ? I know I need to practice more, I made some mistakes, and also got a crash in the shipyard graveyard a few steps away from the WP, had to backtrack from prisoners gate.

Hmm, wait... Lv27 = 25 orbs, 3rd in class = 24 orbs. First cruel difficulty deep dweller = 24 orbs, first cruel difficulty medicine chest = 24 orbs.
25 + 24 + 24 + 24 = 97 orbs 97 != 73, did I not get first on one of the cruel quests? I thought I hit both those. edit: did I not hit them first* I remember specifically my name being spammed on completion of both, I'm not sure where the error was, but only 24 orbs not that big of a deal. Theme of this race was rng trolling- no useful drops till merveil, two barely better than blue rares from her, one alch mid act 2 that produced a completely unusable item and no move boots- not even plain blue 10% at the vendor, and i checked many times- thoughout the whole race.
Then with 10 minutes left, 4 chances, 2 alchs and a chaos, with more rares dropping than i could fit in my inv... and to top off the trolling, this. Unavailable I also had my flasks fail more times than i could count, like probably over 100 fake gulps in total. Never caused any near death experiences this time round but god damn is that bug annoying. Otherwise the race was uneventful except for way too much desync at brutus- that hook attack brings out the netcodes worst- and a terminal desync at the weaver battle where i escaped into an empty hall and was still taking ghost damage faster than i could heal. "Ah, invigorating", my shadow says. Not quite the words i used when i had to bail and redo the area! Also had many bad rare spawns in coves and river crossings that caused repeated abort~retry incidents, with about the largest, most random dark forest ever and wasted a huge amount of time finding the western entrance- no complaints about this though, the new randomization is great and makes the areas much more interesting overall. All the desyncs and poor maps meant cruel would be a waste of time and even waterfall cave would only have broken even for much more risk, so i just grinded out the clock in western. 2nd place shadow in the end. Good fun anyway. See you next race! IGN: KoTao

Like KoTao this race was predominated by RNG for me. I ended up in all blues, mostly stuff I crafted. Best drop - an Orb of Chance (the Orbs of Regret and Scouring don't count). No speed boots. Despite that I improved my level by 1 to 20.15 from last race but slipped down the ladder. I'm guessing because the European competitors and folks downunder are better than us NA's ;). Of course tossing out my leveled ice spear at some point didn't help (I work nights and had been up for ~24hrs at race time). I need to spend some more time researching what witches are doing and practicing. I have no idea how the top runners get so far so fast. I feel like I'm on the edge the entire time and usually come close to dieing several times a race.
The desync is getting frustrating. Brutus is the worst offender now, Oak seems to be a little better - but that could be because I'm fighting him more efficiently so less time for desync to occur. I envy those who can rush through levels, I cannot as I will desync for sure and end up dead so have to grind through a lot of inefficient content. Still fun regardless and I'm hopefull GGG will be able to at least reduce the desync issue, I know a cure is unlikely. Last edited by Falan2#3075 on Oct 27, 2012, 9:47:34 AM
