Your Crafting Resource Guide

wow i just found this thread today,
diden't tell me much new,
but it confermed to me all i learned in 3months gameplay in a singel post
simpley awsome!

thanks Invalesco (again ;D ) ... you should be payed for your work here ^_~)
and thanks to all the others that helped!

btw I love the crafting system in PoE
it was so frustrating at first but it is such a pleasure when you got the hang of it!

so here is a quastion for you Inva: can a feather be mirrored^^?
Unavailable

also there is something i still don't understand:
i saw wands with over 100% spelldmg
for example:
Unavailable

and i understand by now that it is due to a doublemod

no one is selling, so let's say I want to craft one from scratch
I used 500 alts on these two wands (some weeks ago)
Unavailable
Unavailable

and only got one time the Occultist's suffix (I guess), never higher (the right one)
so I used a regal on it...well and i hoped for a double mod and diden't get one
what I learned from that is that it is eighter near to impossible to craft a double mod
or that I simply do something wrong... any suggestion?

and can I get a doublemod with an exalt or just with a regal
or can it happen with an alt too?

Some items in this post are currently unavailable.
an item can have maximum 3 prefixes and 3 sufixes, totaling a maximum of 3+3 = 6 mods
a blue item (magic) can have a maximum of 1 prefix + 1 sufix = 2 mods.
So you cannot doublemod (aka modstacking) with alts.
You can doublemod with regal and exalted orbs, if you pay attention to what mods are stackable (see item data tab on this website)
good luck!
so i gave it a thought
and as I see it the only way is
alt it till i get Incanter's or Archmage's mod
regal it and then hope for the best...

edit:
okay I tryed 200 alts more
I got 5 times the archmage's prefix
(and I used alway an augmentation orb when i had no prefix)
each time i used the regal and got nothing of any use to me...
wands are tough to craft, they can have so many different mods

is it by chance that i got the archmage's 5 times and never the Incanter's mod?
I used now 700alts and never ever got the Incanter's mod...

and i learned one more thing,
I'll from now on pick up any higher level blue wand and identify it just to check for the prefix xD

Hi moo! :)

Yes, basically you need to alt it till you get one of the desired prefixes you want, ie Incanter's or Archmage mod and then regal it and hope for the best.

And hoping for the best is indeed what you'll have to do because wands being hybrid weapons, means you can roll a whole range of other prefix mods such as +ele damage, +phys damage, %phys dmg etc.. and there's still a whole list of possible suffixes that your regal might give you too

it could be by chance yes. could it also be that you sometimes got 2 properties: %spell damage and +mana and thought that you might have rolled 2 mods: a lower weapon-only spell damage mod and another +mana mod instead of what it actually was, which was a single %spell damage + mana mod?

Also, if you happen to alt a wand and get the abovementioned 2 properties: %spell damage and +mana, it's always going to be only one of the weapon-only spell damage and mana mod because the +mana mod and the %spell damage mod are both prefixes and it is impossible to roll both prefixes within an alt.

sure I thought of that ;)

darn hybrid weapons
chris' words are ringing in my ear, "Look at this dagger, seriously!"
I wish there were an orb that downgrades a rare to a magic item,,,

so about the mirrored feather, are you avoiding the quest I gave you ;D?

Of course.
Also, you should transmute any higher level white wand.

hmm very good idea!
finally some use for the countless stacks of transmutation orbs in my stash xD!
I might also augment them if they have no prefix...

You're better off alching weapons and certain armours. Just find whites alch, if bad vendor.

hmmm...your post rendered me a bit speechless
normally I would at least try to argue, but not with you
I know that you crafted some of the most epic gear ever
so I will just take your advice and shut up.

It's because of the amount of.mods needed as yourself noted. Too hard to craft with alts.
