There is a much bigger proove for that in the game - in the cavern of anger the male chars see female "ghosts" of merveil, the witch gets male ghosts, but the ranger IIRC also get the female one, just like the male heroes.

Good. Now we need one male char (either shadow or duelist, I suppose) to see male ghosts as well.
