The tests were performed with wrath anger haste for voltaxic and wrath anger hatred for lions.

a 190 EDPS bow will give vastly less than a lion using the second setup and a bit less than a voltaxic with first set up.

Basically, its very easy to get a rare bow to do as much dps as voltaxic and it will outshine a lions unless you have hatred and blackgleams(For non crit builds).

338 volt = 10 k LA DPS
328 lion = 13 k
400 rare = ~ 14.5 k
500 rare = ~ 16 k
567 rare = ~ 19 k

Thank you. So as far as I understand the only reason to use voltraxic is not to suicide to reflect packs with insane physical dps bows?

Or, even the dps seems lower than other physical bows with voltraxic, the %100 penetration of armor with chaos damage gives more damage output?

For the most part, yes. Reflect is too dangerous in its current state and mirrored bows are a good way to pay 200 exalts to make sure you never level past 94.

monsters have at most 900 armor which is almost nothing but half the mobs in the godamned game are chaos resist or elemental resist So yes, even if the damage is lower physical will generally be more effective than ele or chaos.

It is extraordinarily easily to find a bow that outdps's voltaxic. even a 338 tri ele thicket with any amount of IAS or crit will outperform a 338 dps voltaxic.

Right now, physical is grossly overpowered compared to chaos or ele.

I did that for a while to mow down bosses but its adding on to an already fairly expensive build.

Love the build!

I started with ZiggyD's LA ranger guide and at late game I just feel underpowered so looking for builds to respec into.

Looking at the passive tree, it looks to me like I have as many or even more damage nodes as you. Much fewer life nodes (playing on Domination, have 4.8k life, not to concerned about deaths as high level maps are out of the question for me atm) and while I'm only running 2 aura's (usually hatred and grace) I do significantly less DPS.

Am I giving up a lot of DPS by taking resolute technique and not stacking any crit? Is it b/c I don't have 20% quality gems and lvl 20 gems(most are 18 or 19 atm)? Or is this more likely a gear issue? I thought I had pretty decent gear but this is my first POE character so maybe I'm wrong about that.

Tree and gear linked below, appreciate any guidelines as to how to improve my DPS.

i would not go crit until you can get a really strong crit amulet and crit quiver as well as a koams. crit is really the late/end game option when youre already very beefy.


I would first try swapping FA for WED on LA and see if thats more dps.
I would also swap phys projectile for WED as this will likely be more dps than phys proj. Frenzy is heavily reliant on AIS and that gem cuts it by 10%.

Your tree has the hybridization issue of using physical nodes in addition to ele nodes due to your bow also being a hybrid.

As an end game option i would recommend volt.
prior, i would recommend a lions eyes with anger wrath hatred
for now your bow is pretty good for your needs

Level a bit more so you can use additional auras - anger and wrath will be your biggest sources of ele damage followed by haste. Hatred is stronger than haste if you have a physical bow.

If you want the most ridiculous dps cost effective option, use a lions + 6 link chest or tabula and blackgleams. and use anger wrath grace. Respec out of all those physical bow nodes except iron grip and dump it into wed, projectile and ias.
