So I found a use for all of those crap uniques I keep getting duplicates of...the 5 chance recipe.

i found an alphas howl in a 70 map and another one right NEXT after that map from a TRASHMOB just like BEFORE THAT.

this occured a coupple times with different uniques , havent paid much attention to rares yet.

I have some more observations of the RNG in this game.

I have noticed a very distinct pattern with slightly more rare uniques.

I almost never get the mid-tier uniques to drop. The ones that sell 1-4ex etc..

I bought a pair of rainbowstrides to use and very soon after that I had a pair drop for me in a map. This same exact pattern repeated for me when I bought a rat's nest. Again with a pillar staff.

It's too coincidental that I see the same crap always dropping through countless maps, but within a day of buying and equipping a unique I have that exact unique drop.

I think there is some kind of logic in place that makes items you are using drop more of that type. Probably some small benefit to help the average player maybe find an upgrade they could use. When I used a prophecy wand I was always getting rare prophecy wand drops. Now that I have been using an imbued wand I see a ton of those rares dropping but almost no prophecy wands anymore.

In advance I don't really give a fk about people dismissive of the patterns in the pseudo-rng used in this game. As much as I agree the mind looks for patterns even when they don't exist, the RNG code in this game certainly shows some that defy any reasonable probability of being random coincidence.
Considering the large amount of players and the few that post here (propably not all people that don't post also don't have similar experiences) I guess it is still pretty random.

If you tell a person to write down 100 random dice-rolls he will propably never write down 5 6s in a row. If you roll your dice 100 times 5 6s in a row appears propably far more often. Streaks are a part of every randomization. Of course having seeds in the first place can be tricky with very low chances, because a certain random seed might have a rather long streak of the required numbers not appearing or a certain period with a bunch of high numbers.

If you just play long enough you will certainly have that moment that seems to defy randomness. I had a normal blue mob drop two uniques... both the same (Kaoms Signet). This seems impossible but considering how many mobs you slay it has to happen sometimes. Considering that you also go through a lot of random-seeds during your playtime you won't always have the good or bad ones.

@Emphasy! Random or not, RNG IS controlled for sure.
Prrof is the patch where GGG buffed Ice nova skill when Athene the streamer was using it, it shows that GGG can change things for the "greater good"; Greater goods can also be: inreasing the odds to get a 5L 6L on searing touch when fire builds became popular because of Kripparian anf other streamers, hence even increasing Searing touch drops itself. ANd final proof is the control over number of good results vs no result with vaal orbs, check for yourself:
