Data - Map sustain experiment
So, with all this map-discussion getting started i figured it would be nice for an experiment:
I start with a lvl63 map and try to sustain myself only with maps i find running those. I'll use as little orbs as possible to improve my maps (f.e. i will limit my use of chaos/scouring orbs). I'll also list everything that helps me running future maps. Also the map climbing issue might be shown here. I'm not sure how helpful this data will be or if it helps the discussion, i myself hope it does. We are all single players and all effected by rng. EDIT: Conclusion: It is possible if RNG is in your favor and you burn A LOT of scourings, chaos and alch orbs as well as chisels (the only thing i did not run out of are alch orbs). The results of today' test was a not bad, but not brilliant either. (Not to mention that I've burned about 70 chaos, some chisels and alchs).
All I have left is 1x69 map and a lot of 63maps farmed before 9.12. Ok, here are results : 65lv (50q) - no map 65lv (50q + 35%large) - 66 66lv (72q) - 1gcp 64lv (47q) - 2x61, 62 64lv (82q) - 65 65lv (72q) - 65(5q) + 67! 65lv (80q) - 66, 65, 62 66lv (69q) - no map 65lv (68q) - no map 67lv (94q) - 69! 64lv (36q + 50 large) - 2x61, 62, 63 64lv (66q +2xboss) - no map 63lv (63q) - 65 65lv (62q) - 60 64lv (66q + 42%pack) - 1gcp 64lv (53q +15%magic + 30%rare) - no map 63lv (83q) - 60, 63 63lv (66q +2xboss) - 61, chisel 63lv (77q) - 60, 61(14q) 61lv (83q) - 60, 61, chisel 63lv (80q) - 60, 61 As You can see, there was some "sustain", but in the end I would propably run 62/61 lv maps or maybe even run out of them too. :< IGN: ProjectPaffix You wouldn't even think how exciting might be exile, unless You choose the "wrong turn". In my opinion, the goal of maps was never to be sustained by maps. You will have to farm lower content to build up enough to go on a decent string. I am not sure what people don't understand about this... It is like omg why can't I just farm maps in maps? Well when you hit end game you should expect a grind. There is no way around it. I am fine with the current system.

My recent experience:In 9.12f I ran 22 low level maps (61-63) and got 27 maps (60-64) out of them. Average IIQ on the maps I ran was 45.8%. Level 62 maps never drop me a map.
It seems like the break even point is somewhere around the 45% IIQ to me. I have spent one alchemy orb or around 5 alts (+ one transumation orb) on a map before I ran it. Never used a chisel. Of course this is not really big enough sample, but as I saw the topic I wanted to share my personal experience with the new drop rates. ✠ ✠
