Searing Bond Partnered Descent Race

The idea here is to encourage a new play-style where you move as a unit, "pincer-striking" enemies. Partners would also want to consider which skill-sets would work well with each other. Searing Bond has a default length of about one screen.

How Searing Bond works in this race-type:
  • The bond is not a gem, and therefore cannot be altered by support gems or bonuses from items and passives.
  • It is activated from the start of each floor until you descend to the next floor, where it is activated again.
  • The bond's damage would increase like the Searing Bond gem, gaining a level every other floor of Descent, reaching level 8 damage on the 15th and final floor.

Naturally with this additional free damage and a partner, descent becomes a lot easier.
There are several ways to counter this:
  • Decrease the event length to 30 or 45 minutes
  • Combine with Lethal or Turbo race-types
  • Add a penalty for breaking the bond, such as a stun or damage over time(suggested by Dodog123 and Kaskar)
  • Add more floors to Descent

Searing Bond Partnered Descent races could also be combined with other race-types:
  • Bonded-Immolation(BI)
  • Bonded-Ancestral(BA)
  • Bonded-Blood Magic(BBM)

The loot from Provisions, Curious, and Alluring chests would also need some tinkering from GGG.

Lolz at the bumpfest but great idea.

I too want to see a co-op Descent race and this sounds like a top idea for it.
I also like the suggestion that if you break from the bond that it causes damage. Reminds me of some movie where prisoners had a collar on their necks that would explode if they got to far from their "buddy".
Tin foil hats are a lie propagated by the aluminium industry.
Would be great if the game just picks random partner for you. Would melt the brain away from most of the ppl to have to play with random dude.
