[OSX] Unofficial Path of Exile port - 30/12/2018 status update
I also can't launch the port in macOS. Same issues as the others, black screen, "Unable to create rtt texture" and many more small errors that appear one after the other. Finally, when switching to dx9 mode the game freezes in a black screen and nothing more.
Using Macbook Pro 2016 with Mojave installed. Is this a port-only problem, or does the normal windows launcher suffer from it? |

The game doesn't launch. I was able to launch it once but not it doesn't want to start.

V9 released. just maintenance release, updated wine and wineskin to up to date version. Not much testing done as my Mac is dying but should work to some degree.
Also, please consider this port only as tool to trade and craft from mac due to performance issues. If you want to really play this game, please do so from bootcamp or get parallels desktop or vmware fusion. V9 - Based on wine-staging-vulkan-4.0-rc1 64bit provided by Gcenx from portingteam - preliminary support for dx11, it will still crash, but if by some miracle the game starts in DX11 and works, let me know - updated wineskin so there should be less issues on newer macs/osx Last edited by julus#1066 on Dec 15, 2018, 11:50:58 AM

Hey thanks for this.
v9 has an issue for me under Mojave, though. The dmg opens fine, but on opening the .app I get: “Path of Exile.app” is damaged and can’t be opened. You should move it to the Bin. The only available options are 'Cancel' or 'Move to Bin.' I think the issue is related to the way it is signed. 'Show Package Contents' works on the .app (ie the contents are viewable so the file does not seem to be corrupt) so I don't think it's a download issue (tried with two separate downloads of v9). the help info for the error says: "The app has been modified, and its code does not match the original signed code. The app may be broken or corrupted, or it may have been tampered with. If you think that an app has been damaged or tampered with, you should delete it by dragging it to the Bin." I have tried ctrl+clicking it and choosing open but the error still comes up. Thanks again for your hard work on this. Cheers! found a solution:
open Terminal.app and run: sudo spctl --master-disable ...Of course this permanently disables checking for signing of apps so it is a bad idea. |
|
" odd. I literaly took version i tested on mojave, removed content.ggpk (so its just 500MB not 15GB) and thats it. I tried to pack it and unpack it without any issues.. by any chance are you using keka for unpacking dmg? there were reports the keka is corrupting archives. anyway can you check md5 hash? MD5 (Path of Exile v9.dmg) = 2ff2f13ef4d3c7019572fdc656272900 Last edited by julus#1066 on Dec 16, 2018, 7:29:34 PM

Yes I think it's that Gatekeeper config still enabled by default. You might have already disabled it so you didn't strike the issue.
Maybe one approach is a bash script that runs sudo spctl --master-disable, then the .app, and then enables the gatekeeper again. That way the security impact is jsut while the game is running. Anyway, the Content.ggpk is downlaoding so I'll see whether it will run first! |

" If that is gatekeeper, the only proper solution would be to sign the app with developer key. I don't want to anyone to run anything on cmd line, even trough script... and especially sudo. Anyway, I guess as you figured out already, the game is anything but playable on osx trough wine. DX11 is not usable as MoltenVK does not have Vulkan1.1 compatibility yet (it is possible some games may already work on OSX with it, but this does not). And DX9 runs trough OpenGL which is sloooow on OSX. |
|
" You don't need to disable it, you can bypass it entirely by executing the launcher `/Applications/Path\ of\ Exile.app/Contents/MacOS/WineskinLauncher` |
|
I've managed to get it working thanks to the new version (v9), and bypass it not starting by copy and pasting what what mentioned "/Applications/Path\ of\ Exile.app/Contents/MacOS/WineskinLauncher
", into Terminal. Runs well, although my game crashes whenever I enter the second area and gives me these error messages followed by the game quitting altogether. When I reload the same thing happens, meaning I can no longer load that character. I've deleted and installed it again and it allowed me to get to the same point, the errors are sometimes different, for different items/auras/spells etc, but it then always crashes. https://i.imgur.com/UTyTsnr.jpg - errors I also get errors that cause the game to crash when editing one or two of the graphics options. Thanks for the help guys — very much looking forward to playing this over the holidays if I can get it to work. Last edited by Isula#5279 on Dec 21, 2018, 2:06:31 PM
