[OSX] Unofficial Path of Exile port - 30/12/2018 status update
Hey,
I'm trying to run Path of Exile with a mid-2014 Retina MacBook Pro. I have a 2.8 GHz Intel Core i5, 8GB 1600 MHz DDR3, and an Intel Iris 1536 MB Graphics card. The current wrapper version is 2.6.2. I also have Razer Synapse, which could be the problem here. After running PoE for the first time and changing to DirectX9, the game won't run at all, even after restarting my laptop. Nothing happens when I try to run the app again. Any idea about how this can be solved? EDIT: After using the test run options it says that "wine: '/Users/DraXion/Desktop/Path of Exile.app/Contents/Resources' is a 64-bit installation, it cannot be used with a 32-bit wineserver." on the log for Wine and the following spoiler for my X11 log.

Are there any ini file changes that could be done to make it run smoother / look worse ?

I give up...
I'm playing on my Macbook Air though Bootcamp. Got my Mac 3-4 years ago. Keeping it updated (10.11 Elcapitan now) I got some many fps drops and huge freezes. Like almost every pack I meet/kill is a 1-2 sec freeze. Tried to fond some answer in this thread and everywhere I could in the internet in general. Apparently Steve from the devteam was able to run the client with 30-40fps, I call it a lie. Not now, you simply cannot. I did try to do what others did, lowering everything, going into the config.ini and changing values, but it still freezes some sec. Last time I died because I opened a breach and I froze for 10s. Litterally 10s, no joke. It's so sad, I remember playing this game with a shittier laptop while having decent results. |

I normally play on my home PC through Steam. How would I log in with this version if my accounts are linked?

For those with razer synapse:
wine does not work with razer synapse sound drivers (for example razer kraken) but you can make it work by disabling the sound driver in the game port right click app -> show package contents open wineskin (if an error pops up then right click -> open it) (if it still does not work see bottom of tutorial) click advanced then go to tools (second bar at the top) then click winetricks (first thing second column) (might freeze for a few seconds) click the "Custom..." checkbox (middle-left of window) in the input field that pops up type "sound=disabled" and press enter (or click the run button right of input field) (the input field says "(arguments)") wait for it to finish (it will say " Winetricks Commands Finished!!" at the log bellow) click close at bottom right of window close the window you wont hear any sound in-game even if you change the games settings but it wont crash ps: if you cant open wineskin even with right click -> open then you might need to first install the official app from here: http://wineskin.urgesoftware.com/tiki-index.php?page=Downloads (its called wineskin winery) just unzip the downloaded file and copy "wineskin winery" to the applications folder then go back to the start of the tutorial |

"Failed to create WIC Factory"? I've searched all over but haven't found responses that make sense. Do I need to download Wine to run this game? First time trying to run a non-mac game on a mac. High Sierra 10.13.3.

Also getting the "Failed to create WIC factory" error on launch, followed by the POE_64.exe has encountered a serious error and needs to close.

Im sitting on a Macbook Pro 2012
2,9 Ghz Intel Core i7 8GB RAM Intel HD Graphics 4000 1536 MB Running macOS High Sierra 10.13.5 I've downloaded v8, extracted it onto another space on my drive. Ran the launcher and downloaded all the patching, even so when i play it I get severe lag and fps drops. My internet should be fine, and I thought my computer would be bulky enough to run PoE without major issues even though it's a mac and this method obviously isn't optimized for gaming. Any suggestions to what I can do and/or try to get a more stable experience? I'm not very familiar with Wine or Wrapper so please bear with me. Thank you in advance! |
