[OSX] Unofficial Path of Exile port - 30/12/2018 status update
I think I've got it! Ran winetricks ie6, and everything's booting normally so far. It looks like winetricks msls31 executes as a subtask, and I suspect that's what's actually doing the work.

I don't know if this helps anyone at all, but I ran PoE through a Parallels VM to patch everything and copied the files from that one over to the Mac version. It opened up normally and I could get to the log-in screen, but whenever I tried to load into game it crashed so I'm guessing that's from some incompatible files from the parallels version. Anyone know what the files could be and which ones I shouldn't transfer over?

" little progress here -- 1) downloaded Julus's CX client and built from there 2) Using winetricks from wrapper, installed msxml3 dll and then vcrun2015 3) Ran registry script as described in previous posts and here : https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=39437 4) Started Client 5) SUCESS!! 6) Play character 7) Doh... unimplemented function api-ms-win-crt-convert-l1-1-0.d.wcst back to the googles... |

" Update to this... starting a new character worked fine, maybe its just an issue with loading up the highland map or it could be a character specific issue. Anybody else seeing anything like this? |
|
I haven't yet, but a lot of those api-ms-win-crt DLLs seem to have had issues. Have you tried adding an override so that DLL runs in native mode, too?

" I never had issues loading an existing character, but I'm in Act 3 at the moment, so it could be contextual to the texture pack/effects of that region, but seems unlikely. Have you tried loading that character since? Does it crash consistently? Do your dll overrides match perfectly with the list in the winehq link? I'm sure you've double checked. Maybe I've just been lucky so far. I also wonder if killing all your wine processes using the Wineskin file in the package contents and launching the PoE application again might make sure the reloaded processes load the right dlls on launch. Good luck everyone! If you find out my steps are missing something, let me know. I had a couple people on reddit tell me they had to start completely fresh and change the engine and wrapper before ever launching the app the first time, because if the installer tries to set up vcrun2015 on its own, it gets into a bad state and dies. This could be why mine worked so easily: I never tried launching the game first, I went through all the steps without attempting to patch, because I had been reading on here before I ever got to my machine. Also worth trying. Here is proof -- I know my method works! No crashes yet. http://imgur.com/a/GVxax |

" Try adding api-ms-win-crt-convert-l1-1-0.d.dll to your overrides as well, set to native status. |
|
I have the program running, after encountering some of the usual graphics errors I have yet to start playing.
Here is how I ran it: 1, install CX version 2, open winetriks or whatever it is called. 3, update winetricks 4, install sms3 thingy 5, install vcrun2015 6, open client, 7, close client, copy content.ggpk from other version of game 8, run I have no idea how any of this works, I jsut got lucky. testing playign now... |
|
" Can confirm that this worked for me. I had two crashes with this error when I tried to enter a non-town area from another non-town area, which might be occurring. (The Slums Sewers, for what it's worth.) Added that DLL to my overrides, and have entered the same level without crashes now. |

" yeah in winecfg > Libraries I have api-ms-win-crt- conio heap locale runtime stdio ~EDIT~ convert-l1-1-0.d (added to the list, act 4 still throws the same exception) all set to native. Looks like its just Act 4 that causes the issue right now. All the others look good to go. Anybody try hitting the aqueducts or highgate since the patch?
