I suspect they aren't used because summoners take much less damage than usual due to there being so many other targets.

You are not dealing much/any damage directly (If using Arc you deal a minor amount, if using Summon Raging Spectres you deal none) so there is no need to be in melee range of any enemies.

AoEs will hit you at times (if not under Evangelist bubble), but with high cold resists you won't be frozen very often so Dream Fragments is not as necessary, not a bad ring while leveling but lacking in Resists/IIR at later levels.

Once again incoming damage will be rare, so Cannot Be Stunned is not as necessary either, you'll only be hit on occasion (or by spells), which means less chance for stun.

Armour value is of lesser importance as well, as long as you are durable enough to survive any single hits, you should usually have time to regen before the next incoming hit.

Why not switch weapon+shield? They are used to level gems, but they can also be used for desecrate+offerings.

When you switch to your alternate weapons, any gems with lasting effects (auras, minions, and totems, for example) will be cancelled/killed.

So minions and auras go in hat, chest, boots, or hands. Totems should too, if you're going to be switching weapons in combat. Gems without duration (arc, desecrate, flesh offering, etc) go in weapon/shield slots. Yes, Desecrate has that DOT on it but who cares...

Chober is great as an alternate weapon as it can have 6 sockets while yielding excellent minion properties.
Anyone tried this in Invasion yet?

I'll start leveling one now, but pondering how to make it a bit more tanky. I'd prefer this one as id like to keep the mf and CI, instead of say the templar life build.

Any ideas lads? :)

ok it's all kind of good, but my zombies got destroyed by chaos damage by map bosses, i mean wharf and thicket, to kill boss i have to make like 3 runs with 8 zombies, because they drop insanely fast, zombies are lvl 18 and I don't think +20 quality would change anything, damage they are getting is just insane, even with discipline + vitality they die pretty quick, oh and btw, it's same problem in many maps, butcher kills them pretty quick too, blacksmith kills zombies with poison clouds, how do you make them last longer ?
