[1.2.0] Dual Claws Are Cool

No need to take Unwavering Stance with this build? The keystone is very close by, just curious on the pros/cons of going for that one...

He does not use IR so US would be stupid to take as he loses all his evasion that way.

I do use IR though, and I'm running a similar build otherwise. I find that I do not tend to get stunned so the extra 5% evade chance that you keep from just being alive is very helpful. That being said, I'm progressing through merciless atm and I will probably end up taking US if anything at all starts to hit me hard enough to stun.

Well, two reasons. One, never needed it. Two, Bringer of Rain.

I'm considering going back to IR anyway. Once Blind is in play, everything else gets thrown out the window: I'm at 25% chance to evade without Grace, 35% with, and once the mobs are blinded it makes little to no difference for me. (So I stopped running Grace in favour of more MF.)

Once taking US, even blinded mobs hit 100%. That's no good.

Yes, as a HP build, stuns are generally not a problem.

Come to think of it, Acrobatics shouldn't be an issue either. Just, uh, not with Unwavering Stance.

i'm trying your build on hardcore, level 57 at the moment and had zero problems so far, but i hitting a brick wall against merciless Brutus
i have 1957 hp but he hits me for like 1500 - so he makes one hit and i portal out :/
i tried decoy totem and spell totem + summon skeletons but both didn't help

someone an idea?
Blind. Bringer of Rain, or switch out one of your existing supports on dualstrike/cyclone, or just put it on a skeletotem or flame totem.

I put up a decoy totem on Carnage, the Kole clone from Colonnade, and then use this opportunity to dump as many attacks (supported by Bringer of Rain blind) on him as I can before the totem dies. If he gets blinded it's smooth sailing all the way; if not, I back off and raise another totem to try again. I can and have cleared this fight without taking a single hit from Carnage.

The other option is melee kiting. Take advantage of the fact that Brutus is slow. Run in circles so that his hook misses you - there's a backswing animation on that, which is a free and completely safe window to attack him. Flicker in, get off two or three dual strikes (depending on whether it has multistrike linked), and use whirling blades to escape so that he only hits empty air with his attack. Repeat as necessary. I did not take a single hit the first time I cleared merciless Brutus. Mostly I remember this because I did not die in the fight, with my 1.1k HP at the time.

Blind is overall a much safer option, particularly if you have a flame totem for it. Pity about the socket limitations that Rain imposes.

I really need to update the first post.

Reave's dual wield interaction, bah. It alternates weapons, which is not necessarily a good thing when one of the weapons in question is a 200DPS utility claw. I did hit 81 with a 200DPS offhand and no trouble at all, though...so maybe it's not as bad as all that? Though again there is the AoE reset to consider.

Any of you taken a shot at it yet? Opinions? I'm thinking I'd maximise claw reave by going CI with a shield and heading for RT, but I'm curious to know how well it'd do here.

had a similar problem with merc Kole - my advice for you is to get 2 granite flask and learn to use the decoy totem better

Where does one get Granite flasks? I have three characters at level 48-51 and have yet to see one drop despite them having a level 27 requirement. None of the shops I have seen sell one.
That's pretty unlucky mate. Try asking in trade or global, the response should be overwhelming. They drop pretty often for most people.

First post updated a little - specifically mentioned Blind in skills section where I didn't before, moved 0.11.2 section down to Q&A since it's old news now.

Wow this is just insane, i've made my own ranger based on your build. Currently lvl 75, i played with dual dagger, til i don't have found both good claw or bloodseeker. I don't got any major problem until lvl 62 even if monster were higher then me. Don't have really high life leech, but i'm pretty fine with only the life leech from bloodrage.

The major difference is that i goes for chaos resist on gear until i get the bloodseeker's.
I can run bloodrage without losing life, and for the survivabillity i just put 2% life leech on 2 granite flask.

That's my current stuff:

Almost 3 aps and 6k2 on my DS without frenzy. 1k5 life with grace and discipline on life. 2k1 life without aura. Running hatred, grace, discipline, haste, determination. For a 46% evade chance and 20% dmg reduction. Still on my way to more attack speed/life/block from shadow tree.

With bloodseeker's or better weap, that would be just TOO funny.

Best build i've played !

Thanks for sharing :)

Taking a break from my higher ups to level some low level characters and do some mindless farming in part to level up some gems for various characters. I had a 12% MPD gem drop. Needless to say I was quite happy. Once I get some new gems into the build this is going to destroy things in quick bloody order. My only issue right now is ranged chaos damage and lightning damage due to low resist. I'm going to try and get Purity on the build to help with that.
